Barbershop...

Let me tell you guys about my trip to the barbershop this morning. I was getting my haircut with a shop full of old white guys who are talking about the GOP debates last night. I listen to these guys rail against the Democrats and this and that and then the barber says "people won't vote for Obama when they find out his middle name." He then goes on the say "guess what it is, Muhammad!!! He's a muslim!!!"

I was sitting there deciding whether or not to step in, and I said hell yeah! I asked them if they wanted to know his real middle name and told them it was Hussein. I also informed them Obama is a member of the United Church of Christ.

The problem is this, I've heard at least 3 people tell me the same thing about Obama in this area (Central Virginia). After I informed everyone of the facts, they said "I still don't like him." I was thinking to myself..."I wonder why?" :sarcasm:

It makes me sick to see the rampant racism and hypocrisy of the religious right in this area (of which I used to be a member, before I saw the light). I just wish I could find some Christian friends in the area who haven't been brainwashed by Jerry Falwell and like types.

One of the guys who claims to be Christian told me we should have dropped a nuke long ago in Iraq and started over. I asked him if he meant to drop the nuke "in a good Christian kind of way?" What kind of shit is this?

7. Not so fast my friend...

I still have faith in Christ, I just believe in the parts about loving your neighbor and helping the poor, etc. And my avatar signifies peace. Stump is a nickname...I'm vertically challenged. :hi:

6. You need a barber like mine

He doesn't speak English and neither do most of his customers. I go in there because he opens real early in the morning. I speak just enough Spanish to discuss the weather etc. but usually I'm the only patron in there.

Finding a hispanic barber in my area...maybe I'll start going to the black barbershop. Looks like fun in the movies.
