Ridiculous Conversation on MSNBC about Hillary being Presidential in handling the hostage situation |
|
I'm confused, what exactly did Hillary do in this situation? I'm not trying to be a hater, but this conversation is a joke.

3. Maybe because it was a local law-enforcement issue. Is the mayor "Presidential"? |
|
Frankly, I see it as an unfortunate subliminal connection of "Hillary" with "terrorism".

5. What exactly was her role in diffusing the situation? |
|
Giving a heart-felt speech at the end of everything? Are we going to celebrate her actions because she did what anybody (except Bush) would do.

I thought she handled her role with dignity and class. However, it was not "presidential" for the most obvious of reason: her role involved no responsibilities associated with the presidency of the United States.

9. I believe this will unfortunately help her, especially in NH, altho she does not deserve any kudos, |
|
Americans are so pistol-whipped with fear, driven by the media and Bush, a certain percentage will grasp onto anyone looking resolute.
Just as Giuliani benefited from 9-11, and this is perhaps the closest episode of terror since then, this act will trigger the "save me" response. Also I saw the video of her, and it immediately struck me that voters are seeing her in the midst of a crisis -- and that everything came out OK.
This will associate together in the less attentive voter's mind and equal "security" when they see the name Hillary Clinton.
I hope this is not true -- but a slice of the population is so whipped and scared that I think this could have just delivered the nomination into her hands, as she might now be able to stop Obama in NH.

It may help her.
As always, we can break voters into three groups: (a) those who support you; (b) those who oppose you; and (c) the undecided. Yesterday's events will play well with Group A; Group B will view it as proof that supports their dislike of Senator Clinton; and Group C may very well come to see it as a positive for Senator Clinton.
But none of this is due to Senator Clinton behaving in a "presidential manner" during the episode. Only those who are spinning the situation, either for political gain (Group A) or because they are mindless journalists, would confuse her behavior with being "presidential." It was neither presidential or un-presidential.

9/11. He was there. It was her campaign headquarters. Typical media stuff. You are right what did she do. She did what she was expected and had to do, the same thing any other candidate would have done in that situation. She handled the situation ok but certainly doesn't deserve any accolades as was nothing but what needed and should have been done. I wonder if she will say hostage now as much as Rudy says 9/11.

while their guest wrote it off as having no effect on the campaign.

7. Yeah, didn't see it so don't know but I mean it was a situation and it |
|
was handled. Thankfully, it was only a drunk, troubled individual and nobody was hurt out of it.

8. It's beyond absurd. They are desperately fishing for connections to then bash her. |
|
Her news conference was enough, locals handled it, she is handling internally with the staffers that were there.
End. Of. Story.
Jesus, have we not learned anything? They repeat the same item again in a continous loop. "Presidential Hillary!" Then people who do not like her or are on the fence start getting annoyed that they keep hearing this equating with acting presidential.
I works two ways. For desperate Hillary supporters they point and say "SEE!" For the people considering voting for her, it is another reach and fish to link her to a rather sadly normal occurance in American society and they see the absurdity of that connection, not helping Hillary at all.
It is a very sublime MSM talking point to be hammered. It has a function.

12. Hillary was *NOT* presidential at all. |
|
She has *not* gone on TV and said that the government forces prevented the small terrorist cell from blowing up the elementary school along with the rest of the city.
She did *not* antagonize the situation by going on TV and telling the guy "Bring it on".
She did *not* order the banning and confiscation of dangerous road flares, nor order the TSA to ban anything red colored through airport security.
She did *not* blame the actions of this guy on any of her political rivals.
All this talk of her being "presidential" in the matter is making me sick...
