Texas official resigns, cites creationism conflict

AUSTIN (AP) — The state's director of science curriculum said she resigned this month under pressure from officials who felt she gave the appearance of criticizing the instruction of intelligent design.

The Texas Education Agency put Chris Comer on 30 days paid administrative leave in late October, resulting in what she described as a forced resignation.

The move came shortly after Comer forwarded an e-mail announcing a presentation being given by the author of Inside Creationism's Trojan Horse. In the book, author Barbara Forrest says creationist politics are behind the movement to get intelligent design theory taught in public schools. Comer sent the e-mail to several individuals and a few online communities.

Comer, who held her position for nine years, said she believes evolution politics were behind her ousting.
"None of the other reasons they gave are, in and of themselves, firing offenses," she said.

5. Homo Sapiens have only been on Earth for somewhere between

350,000 and 600,000 years. If we were to become extinct over the next few thousand years, it would be as species record for "short-gevity" (I made up that word). Chimps have been around for about 3,000,000 years. Turtles have been here for over 200 million years. Now, that's longevity.

6. I don't even enjoy visiting Texas

You just never know what idiocy you're going to hear there. Almost every time I go, one of my colleagues goes on a right-wing rampage that leaves all of us sane people rolling our eyes. I can't figure out why they feel so weak that they have to "display" their lack of confidence to all who must endure. Oh, well - this is what happens in paternalistic cultures. I am shaking my head now thinking how much these "macho" men are truly weak cowards.

8. Lets face it , man is just plain stupid

Rather than look at the facts man choses to go by some book called the bible . We will be the shortest lived species on the earth because of this . Turtles have been around for 200 million years and they don't screw around with religion they just keep on ticking .

By the time man is done screwing around with their anger and hate some fool with push that button and it will be the end .

Many times I feel man has outlived his purpose on earth whatever that may be , it seems to be how to screw things up for everything else .
