Time to get rid of the Blue Dogs - Anyone interested in helping?
Following is the link to the Blue Dog Coalition web site w/ listing of members.

There are only 47 of them, a small fraction of the Dem majority in Congress.

Yet they're holding the Congress, the nation and Democratic Victory in 2008 hostage by colluding with the Bush administration.
Their intransigence on issues most important to voters has caused Dem approval ratings in Congress to plummet:

They meet privately and cut deals with the GOP and Bush to advance his agenda.

They're out of touch with voters in their district, thinking they care about jobs, health care and want endless war in the Mideast.

It shouldn't be too difficult to find good Dem candidates to run against them and win during the next election.

Who's up for running them out of office? My state has one - Rep. Charlie Wilson. I'm willing to work to find someone to run against him in 2008. Anyone else willing?

2. NC, McIntyre
I grew up with him coming
to our home to get my older
sister to help him with his
chemistry class while they
were in high school. I never
figured back then he would amount
to anything, I guess I was right...
a blue dog is just a repuke in
wolves clothing.

3. Sorry but Tanner in the Tn 8th district
Will be there for life if he wants to. I don't see anybody even wanting to challenge him. This is a very rural farming democratic stronghold. Pretty conservative area. I don't know if a progressive could win there.

4. these people don't exist in a vaccuum
in many cases they do represent their districts - which are largely conservative. It is difficult to find "good Dem candidates" that can run and win in those districts.

5. Speaking of Wilson
His race was handled so poorly, he almost didn't get on the ticket. It wouldn't have taken much for a good Dem to beat him.

Any candidate who runs on the issues of jobs, economy, reducing the deficit and universal health care would be a shoo in. Bush has incredibly low approval ratings in most of these districts. They can be won.

7. There is no majority without them
47 is by no means a small fraction of the majority, that's a large amount. You get rid of the blue dogs, the majority is gone. It can't be both ways, it's either one or the other.

8. Replace them with mainstream Dems
The idea that only right wing candidates calling themselves Dems can win in these districts is a myth.

The issues that have the most meaning to these voters (often rural and economically depressed) are the ones mainstream, progressive candidates are strongest on. Given the failing economy, lower wages, inflation, etc. these voters want someone who will address those issues and improve their lives.

The progressive Dem agenda is very mainstream where these voters are concerned.
