Russia - "All sacrificed on the altar of the victory" (Novayagazeta)

"A few days before the election the parties continued to show what they were capable of. To put it more exactly, the one party was showing, and others just looking.

Tuesday evening main TV channels reported about gala-concert of the Patriotic Song Festival titled We Are United, we are Russia. The organizer of the show could be easily guessed from this title and besides the role of DJ was performed by Boris Gryzlov. The scene was chosen not accidentally – the Hall of Church Assembly in the Cathedral of the Redeemer.

...
I do not mean to hurt the concert’s participants: many of them performed really well. The matter is not about them: when there is a need by the Party, the performers will always be found as well as the spectators. The tickets for the concert didn’t sell; they were just distributed through prefectures, Departments of Veterans Affairs and district branches of United Russia. The audience was really rewarding: pensioners, students of military schools, artists’ relatives…

As a kind of fashion critique I would note successful presentation of the new style of glamour sovietique. This is ethical prêt-à-porter for everyday wearing by masses who can’t afford “Russian glamour” worn by our political beau monde and considered to be haut couture. It’s known that this is not for everyone and the bad thing is that it separates the society. So it was decided to develop and insert some everyday style taking “sovietique” as the basis. There’s nothing bad in that: only the ignorant people don’t know that fashion develops cyclically."

eh eh :P, interesting - isn't it?
