Wondering How Much Mitt "Tithes" Compared to His Tax Breaks
An ex-mo friend told me that you HAVE to tithe a significant amount of your income (I think it's 10%?) to be in good standing and they CHECK. Like you have to show them your tax records and contribute accordingly.

Since Romney's worth millions of dollars -- he's in the tax bracket most "helped" by the BushCo tax cuts, wonder if the Mormon income tax ends up being more than the US income tax?

1. Don't get sidetracked on his "religion"
look at where he got bribes from the olympics and from his stint in the Northeast.

If he is going to church, you can bet he's scamming them too.

2. Mormon Tithing "Settlement"
I grew up Mormon and spent 37 years ensconced in the culture and religion. Tithing "Settlement" is held at the end of the year by the Bishop of a given ward (area, like a parish) and they used to ask if you were honest in your business dealings. I guess too many Mormon men couldn't answer that one well enough to keep the coffers flowing so they stopped asking that and switched to a more innocuous question, "Do you FEEL that you have paid an honest tithe?". To which the person being asked can say anything they wish, but if it's a No, or "I'm a little behind" or anything from the absolute flat out YES, they withold your temple recommend till you pay up. The irony here is that even a slimey player like Mitt Romney who may have to disclose publicly his holdings and income can pay less than the REQUIRED 10% and still say "WHY YES BISHOP, I'M A FULL TITHE PAYER" and still keep his church priveleges. It's quite a scam and my ex husband was the slimiest at it since he never paid a dime because I was the breadwinner and he felt that his income was HIS money. Our 4 yr. old paid more tithing than he did and he still got to keep his temple recommend but they revoked mine because I was behind by about $800.00 one year. It was the last year I gave a dime to that outfit and I could get on a big bender about all the other crimes and sleazy dealings but I'll leave your poor eyes and ears alone.

Mitt Doll with exchangable values costumes, batteries not included
Whenever I see Mitt Romney, even from when he was helping SLC with it's Olympic Games challenges I get the distinct impression of a very slick used car salesman and the American people are the shills. Maybe it isn't his oily countenence and nasaly tone but more the sanctimonious sneer and practiced nods. He comes from a long line of Mormons who've perfected this "Public Persona" in their weekly meetings, BYU and televised broadcasts. That half turn at the podium and head nod that suggests he's coming down a notch to casual, "I'm going to let you in on the secret" pose. I grew up Mormon and saw this all the time, especially in the church heirarchy. The more they blink their eyes in a practiced show of "Deep spiritual sincerity" and soften the voice to a BYU pentameter and sing songy tone, the bigger the lie they're telling. The Mormon leaders are so skilled at this tactic andit's been practiced from the inception of the church by their biggest leader/liar, Joseph Smith. Brigham Young mastered it better than any in his time and his manipulation of the press and our govt. for his dirty and corrupt secrets and power is legendary. The documentation is overwhelming on all these counts. I believe Mitt Romney is just the latest puppet mouthpiece in this church's history of lies, manipulation, and absolute distortion of truth, history, or fact. They invented obsfucation. Go to http://www.mormoncurtain.com / and do a little browsing.

The Mormon people aren't bad, just their doctrine and religious practices. Beware America if you are foolish enough to support or elect such a charletan. He'll jettison loyalties faster than grease through a goose when it comes to holding true to any value he professes at at the moment. He's a puppet of the Repub. party and I highly suspect under all that makeup is JEB BUSH, just waiting for his turn in the drivers seat.

3. Thanks for the information. I'll have to watch for that half-turn by Romney.
Just one question. Did you mean that the American people are Romney's shills, or his suckers?

5. Oops, yes, I meant suckers
I'm a bit inept with other cultural colloquialisms and get them out of context a lot, which is sometimes funnier than my original intent. I once used "going over the cliff like a bunch of dumb blind lemurs", and of course I meant lemmings but it's sure funny to think of a bunch of lemurs heading over the cliff. Thanks for the correction though.

6. Exmormonforums
Thanks for the link. I rant on an Exmormon site and it is good to discuss such things with others who have experienced some of the same level of frustration and anger. Sort of like preaching to the choir, but it's part of the healing and processing process. I see your stuff on this site often though and will keep looking for you.
