For the record, Obama has NEVER been a member of the DLC.
Additionally, he specifically renounced membership in 2003 when they included him in their "New Democrat" directory:

“I am not currently, nor have I ever been, a member of the DLC,” said Obama, in a statement that substantially reflects a telephone conversation with BC Associate Editor Bruce Dixon, this weekend. “It does appear that, without my knowledge, the DLC…listed me in their ‘New Democrat’ directory,” Obama continued. “Because I agree that such a directory implies membership, I will be calling the DLC to have my name removed, and appreciate your having brought this fact to my attention.”

So please let's not keep flogging that stupid lie, okay? It makes us look small and naive and next thing you know the New York Times will be making snarky comments about DU!!!

4. That's what I'm talking about.
Obviously, the subject line is misleading, no matter what From may have implied.

6. The DLC is too liberal for Obama, not enough Republicans

7. They say membership has it's privileges...
But at club DLC membership is not required.

9. If Al From and Harold Ford are endorsing him
Does it matter whether he is actually DLC or not? :evilfrown:

10. I think it matters a lot, actually.
I'm not thrilled to hear they back him, but the fact that he renounced the DLC above is good information, and I thank the OP for posting it.

11. I also think it matters a lot.
I didn't really get what Obama was about until I realized that he's not cut from the same cloth as Bill and Hill. He's seriously dedicated to progressive social and economic reform. It shows up in his record in the Illinois senate.

15. From's a good Democrat... Obama's a good Democrat...
Clinton's a good Democrat.

What's the problem?

17. From isn't a Democrat at all
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 03:41 AM by Kucinich4America
Him and his partner Will "PNAC" Marshall are the ones responsible for creating this fucking cancer called the DLC, who are destroying the Democratic party from within.

You don't get to narrowly define what's a democrat.

20. I imagine From would like to be assoicated with a winner
and is hedging his bet. He didn't outright claim Obama was a DLC member, just implied it. I doubt that anybody here will claim From is an honest dealer.

19. Yes. Correcting such misinformation always matters a lot. OTOH, the fact that
Obama's mentor in the Senate has been Joe ("Mr. DLC") Lieberman also matters a lot.

14. These graph are telling
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/select.asp?Ind=B02

They're neck and neck in many areas, with few exceptions, where Obama has less contributions from lobbyists and oil & gas.
