Michigan Dems, are you going to vote for Mitt in the primaries?
Or will you vote in the Dem primaries?

Over at Daily Kos they are promoting such devilment.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/1/10/2713/87225/55/434206

In 1972, Republican voters in Michigan decided to make a little mischief, crossing over to vote in the open Democratic primary and voting for segregationist Democrat George Wallace, seriously embarrassing the state's Democrats. In fact, a third of the voters (PDF) in the Democratic primary were Republican crossover votes. In 1988, Republican voters again crossed over, helping Jesse Jackson win the Democratic primary, helping rack up big margins for Jackson in Republican precincts. (Michigan Republicans can clearly be counted on to practice the worst of racial politics.) In 1998, Republicans helped Jack Kevorkian's lawyer -- quack Geoffrey Feiger -- win his Democratic primary, thus guaranteeing their hold on the governor's mansion that year.

With a history of meddling in our primaries, why don't we try and return the favor. Next Tuesday, January 15th, Michigan will hold its primary. Michigan Democrats should vote for Mitt Romney, because if Mitt wins, Democrats win. How so?

For Michigan Democrats, the Democratic primary is meaningless since the DNC stripped the state of all its delegates (at least temporarily) for violating party rules. Hillary Clinton is alone on the ballot.

1. Two points....
The Michigan Democratic Party is asking its members to not cross over and vote in the Republican Primary.

Hillary Clinton is not the only Democratic candidate on the ballot.

the ballot.

4. Do it if you can...
...Mitt is out best bet for an "R" candidate.

If he wins in Michigan he'll stay in, spend more money and keep the "r's" confused.

Great Idea - I like it!

10. You might want to be careful about this since here (Texas) one cannot
hold any Democratic party positions for the next year if one has voted in the other party's primary. If one wants to be a delegate to the state or county or national convention, then one must have voted in the Democratic primary. Since Michigan is getting no delegates, it might be a moot point but something to investigate if one has political plans. (Here this includes precinct chair.)

18. In my state we have no open primaries. I will probably be our next
Precinct Chair.

11. Definitely not voting for Mitt
Nor will I vote in the Republican primary. There doesn't seem to be an obvious spoiler. The last thing I'd want to do is strengthen a Republican who actually has a chance to win.

Eight years ago a lot of Dems voted for McCain because he was on the attack against bush every day and we perceived that to be a good thing.

I'm really not sure if I'm going to vote at all. I'd like to vote for Obama but since that isn't possible I may just sit out.

... not voting for Romney (I also believe he does have a chance). Where we differ: rather than sit it out, I'll vote uncommitted

13. Nope. I'm voting undecided.
I trust Conyers on this more than the party higher-ups telling us to cross over and vote for Mitt (got the e-mail yesterday from the MDP guys).

The reality is, I just plain don't trust the MDP anymore. They're looking the other way on our county Dems not following our own bylaws, they totally f'd up the primary and refused to budge when Dean made it clear what would happen (idiots), and they couldn't even get control of the state senate in the last election. They pick the darndest candidates when good ones want to run but don't have the same connections to the DLC, and then they wonder why they lose. Honestly, we need to seriously clean house.

I'm not going to do what they tell me on this when they're the ones that screwed it all up in the first place. Undecided is our only real chance at getting any delegates at the convention (not that we have any hotel rooms, so who knows where those delegates would stay) if the nominee isn't Hillary (and there's a decent chance of that).

14. I'm not sure what e-mail from the MDP guys you're talking about
the MDP will absolutely never advise any Dem to vote for a Republican ever.
The process here is totally a mess but I give our state Party credit for standing up and demanding change in the primary calendar. We're paying the price. I think we were outmaneuvered by the Republicans in the legislature. We should have run a caucus, not a primary.

Anyway, for those interested, here's the link to the Michigan Democratic Party website
http://www.michigandems.com/
explaining their advise to voters.

17. Seeing as Mitt is the biggest piece of crap in a pile of shit...
I support this initiative. He is unelectable. Some think he is dangerous just because he looks the part. Here's the thing: He is repulsive to the true base of the Republican Party. It isn't corporate executives. It is the blue collar social conservative base. He just does not play well there.

19. I am voting UNCOMMITED. Edwards, Obama, Richardson, Biden supporters should do the same.
Voting for Hillary (if Dems are masochistic enough to nominate her) will be very, very hard for me to do, but voting for Mitt... I just couldn't do it.

23. Vote for Dennis!
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 01:39 PM by Kucinich4America
He's on the ballot.

Why should you? Because with a primary win in a reasonable sized state, the Whore Media would no longer have any excuses to exclude Dennis from the debates. And if you're an Edwards supporter, then you have to realize that, if they can't kick Dennis out of the debate, they can't kick John out either.

Furthermore, the DLC promised they would fight tooth and nail to get the Michigan delegates seated at the convention, when they assumed Hillary had a lock on the state. We all know damn well they would do no such thing for Dennis, so let's expose them once and for all for the hypocrites and frauds they truly are.

A Michigan victory for Dennis Kucinich is a victory for ALL of us who did not climb aboard the media-anointed bandwagon.
