Between the http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sibel+edmonds+linguist">Bush Admin's treatment of Sibel Edmonds, and its http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=gay+linguists+bush">DADT discharges of gay linguists, we may be seeing an ironic slowdown effect in the Intelligence Community's recruiting capabilities, as the neo-cons seek to march toward Tehran.

Yes, he is a native Farsi speaker, but he is over 65. :crazy:

The gov. was looking for native Farsi and Dari speakers, for state-side and "in-country" positions. Step-father politely declined the written offer, having no desire to get shot at...the parents were in Tehran during the Revolution. Once was enough.

I sure as hell am not volunteering to translate German for them, either.

An Deutsch haben sie kein grossen Bedarf, das konnen ein paar Amerikaner schon, immerhin gibt's jede menge Uebersetzungsarbeit und die Sprache finde ich grossartig.

I think the possibility of scandal (the truth getting out such as with what Sibel could reveal) could put the brakes on or make them subject to scrutiny. As far as discharging linguists, they obviously feel they don't need them enough to overcome their intolerance.

This administration has engaged in so many abuses and crimes it is utterly mind-boggling.
