A must read. I know of several churches that do this and even have prize drawings and lotteries for the Super Bowl. It's all about the "bottom line" folks -- for both.

3. churches with lotteries?
that makes sense.

sorry, but the copyright is perfectly clear, you can't use the NFL product for your own marketing purposes without permission. and that's exactly what these churches are doing. i love the fact they somehow thought they were exempt from the very clear copyright statements, though.

4. It is very sexist. I do not understand nor do I care
about football. As a woman I just find it plain boring. I can't speak for others, it is just me. A church would not see me there for football or baseball. So how many women attend?

9. You're not alone. I'm a guy, and ex-football player (in my youth)...
...and I don't really care about pro-sports, especially the "Stupor Bowl." I haven't watched a pro-game in decades. I don't care if others want to spend their time watching "professional sports," just don't foist it on me. I just got sick and tired of the endless babble of the sports announcers, the vapid interviews with the atheletes, the second-quessing and "what they need to do to win" drivel, and making role models out of overly-pampered trogs who make millions playing a kid's game.

And don't get me started on the Olympics!

5. Last Sunday, our youth leader gave the sermon and he encouraged everyone
to invite people into their homes for their Super Bowl parties, even though most people think of it as "family time". Gosh, I wonder if I could volunteer at a shelter to help provide a Super Bowl party for those people who otherwise wouldn't have one?

:eyes:

The only significance Super Bowl Sunday has for me is that it's the best day of the year to go out for dinner and a movie.

6. Come and get us, NFL
Our congregation is still holding our Souper Bowl party, and this year, we're going to produce 1,000 soup packets for folks in our area, and we don't give a rip if the NFL doesn't like it. Send your biggest goons, because we'll need them to load up the vans at the end of the day.

8. How about showing it on a smaller tv?...
What, churches should be exempt from copyright rules? Sheesh.

10. Did you know that Christmas services are mostly copyrighted?
And there are churches that prohibit taping of those services because of the copyright.
