I don't think it is really a member of a football team.
I don't think it is really someone who knows the words to the Star Spangled Banner (what's a Spangle?)
I don't think a Patriot is someone who roots for the expected winner that is given to all from the MSM
I don't think a Patriot is someone who repeats like a parrot what they have heard from others
I don't think a Patriot is someone who denies others the right to a free and fair vote
I don't think I've seen a true Patriot for some time
What is a Patriot?

Someone who upholds the foundation - the Constitution - and defends its integrity at all costs from those who would seek to marginalize it and even destroy it.

And the notion that the Constitution means what it says in plain English, i.e. "no law" means "no fucking law". And that if that does not serve it should be amended in the Constitutionally specified manner, and not otherwise by the fiat of this or that politician.

In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot. - Mark Twain

IMHO is someone who strives to make their country better then what it is. Since it is relative the definition of "better" will change from person to person. so a patriot to some might be a traitor to another.
