Veteran eyes House seat held by Terry
BY ANDREW J. NELSON
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

An Air Force reserve captain and Metro Community College economics instructor is considering a run for the U.S. House of Representatives seat held by Rep. Lee Terry of Omaha.

Richard N. Carter, 30, of Bellevue, will file Friday with the Federal Election Commission to form an exploratory committee, according to press release.

Carter is a Democrat. Terry is a Republican.

Carter is a veteran and served in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the release. He left active duty in September after serving for five years.

He holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Oklahoma.

The 2nd Congressional District, in which Carter is considering running, encompasses Douglas County and much of northern and eastern Sarpy County.
