Excited at the prospect of a non-white, or non-male president?
At my advanced age, I can remember when the idea of a woman president or a black president was simply unheard of. It was spoken of in academic terms only, could a woman or a black candidate ever become president of the United States of America? And now that it is a real possibility, many of the younger folks may not realize the big deal that might occur, America's first non-white or female president.

It is either no big deal at all, or its the biggest deal since George Washington. I won't be voting for president based on sex, or race, but some people will, and some are downright intimidated at the idea of a non-white or female commander in chief, and will vote against them.

The only kind of president I want is a Democrat, and a non asshole, but I must admit, that I am somewhat excited to be preparing to vote for America's first female or non-white president. I felt a sense of pride for all women when Nancy Pelosi took the gavel, but then of course, disappointment followed. She is however a reminder that women are now well represented in our government, as are non-whites, and many of us remember a time when that would have been unthinkable.

1. Actually no, I'm not
From a historical perspective it might be of interest, but I live in the here and now. I am pleased that we can consider either as a serious candidate, but in the end I don't really care whether they are light or dark, an innie or an outie.

What I care about is what they STAND for. I have left a Republican ninny, a quasi-Democrat with a tendency to sell-out, and a mostly mystery Democrat who professes a desire to bring us all together under one tent.

I aint too thrilled.

2. Yes! I wanted John Edwards on issues, but ...
We're here now, and it's exciting to know something big in history could happen this year.

3. My excitement is tempered by the fact that neither of them will hold this administration accountable

for what it's done.

Obama, at least, has blatantly ruled it out. Otherwise, I'd be jumping on his bandwagon so fast the wheels would creak.

5. No
I don't like either one of them - and it breaks my heart that no matter how hard I try can't get excited...

6. All I want is something to do and feel happy about living. A plan and a future.
That's the only label I'm going to care about.

7. Kind of.
I'm trying to find other reasons to get excited about a Clinton or Obama presidency, but that's about it, so far.

8. I am rooting for a female president
I have never cared about this team or that team winning ever in my life, but I am rooting for the female gender to win this one. The gentler part of the male/female equation has been relegated to the child's part of the table for centuries and I would like that to change.
