O'Reilly & Fox News' Big January Ratings Win
This is what Hillary will be up against, 8 Fox shows bashing her and the husband 24/7 and millions will watch it over and over. Not to mention the gazillion ads that will be purchased by GOP candidate. I expect come January 20th, we will have President McDrain taking the oath.

TVNewser reports that Fox News Channel had 8 of the top 10 highest rated programs on cable news during the month of January. Leading that charge was The O'Reilly Factor, which took both the #1 (the 8PM original broadcast) and the #7 (the 11PM repeat) spots.
Below, the 20 top ranked shows for January, according to Nielsen Media Research:
1. The O'Reilly Factor (Fox)
2. Hannity & Colmes (Fox)
3. The Fox Report with Shep Smith (Fox)
4. Special Report with Brit Hume (Fox)
5. On The Record with Greta Van Susteren (Fox)
6. Americas Newsroom (Fox)
7. The O'Reilly Factor (Repeat) (Fox)
8. Larry King Live (CNN)
9. The Big Story with John Gibson (Fox)
10. Lou Dobbs Tonight (CNN)
11. Studio B with Shep Smith (Fox)
12. Your World with Neil Cavuto (Fox)
13. Happening Now (Fox)
14. Fox And Friends (Fox)
15. Live Desk with Martha MacCallum (Fox)
16. Americas Pulse (Fox)
17. Anderson Cooper 360 (CNN)
18, Out In The Open (CNN)
19. Countdown with Keith Olbermann (MSNBC)
20. CNN Election Center (CNN)

I had thought Fox News was losing viewers, because people were learning they had been bamboozled.

does that contribute to their ratings?

9. Only if Nielsen Boxes
are hooked up (this includes Arbitron and other ratings companies). Usually however these trackers prefer homeowners.

13. thats what I thought
but someone here corrected me and told me that cable companies know exactly what you watch, without a Niellson box.

I know that they can track what we TiVo, because the come out with 'most TiVod' programs.

I don't know if that counts as Ratings or is used just for their information. Might matter to advertisers.

21. Well For One Thing
this isn't broken down by age demo's. So, I would expect in the 25-35, & 40 - 54, Keith Olberman does just as good, maybe better. But FOX carries the old red folks, and they vote. Against their interests, but nonetheless, they vote in larger numbers.

25. It contributes to the dumbing down.
I use the New York University Dental School for my dentistry, After my floor was remodeled last summer, they now have Faux as the reception/waiting room diversion. I have complained, but they don't (or more like won't) get why it is so wrong. NYUDC must be getting paid for this.

It's really sad.

12. Without Sounding Like Racists
its' gonna be pretty hard to go after his Harvard educated beautiful black wife.

Remember, with Hill, you get Bill and he's even more of a lightening rod for Fox and their viewers. Face it, it's true - Fox will rejoice in slamming the Clinton's. Bill made Fox what it is today and as you can see by these ratings, their viewers came back for more during primary season.

it is the same people and the same number of people that watch these programs, and if fox were doing such a damn good job of convincing the public then the dems would not have taken over the house and senate.....but it all started when a democrat raised hell and got up in the face of fox news chris wallace and showed the dems they could have some balls and take them on.....but how do the majority in here show their respects....uh huh call em race baiters, bigots racists.....

18. But This is Different
it's Hill & Bill. Don't be naive, they want to be reminded about every little thing it was they hated the Clinton's for and Fox will deliver. Every PAC that despises the Clinton's will spend millions running ads. We don't watch it, but the a shit-load of people do.

17. TV Ratings Can Be Misleading
Yes, Faux News leads in the overall numbers, but that's not what advertisers care about. What they care about is the money demo, 18-35, and I believe that Keith edges out O'Reilly in that demo. That demo is more important because those viewers are more likely to buy the products advertised on the show.

Faux News gets older, more conservative viewers.

29. More Older People Watch The News Than Younger People
That's why O'Reilly's nuumbers are higher. However, advertisers, the people that actually pay for the show, are more concerned about younger viewers.

32. remember- most right wingers watch Fox but the rest of us split our viewing
If they had other RW competition their ratings wouldn't be as good.

Yes, I know CNN and MSNBC are hardly liberal - but they are far more balanced than Fox is.
