I am glad that Primaries are only every four years. |

Or there probably wouldn't be a DU.

I've been here since 2001 and in a way I feel I've lost a safe place to go to. I hope we can pull it back together this time. Peace

It's been ramped up on my teevee about 70% since last time.

4. The MSM don't hold guns to people's heads and force them to their keyboards |

to type asinine things about the candidate(s) they don't support.
At some point, people need to take personal responsibility for their own obnoxiousness. I know that sounds Repug of me to say, but it's true.

It's not like Chris Matthews has some kind of mind control ray that forces people to be jerks.

While there's been a lot of bullshit out here, I appreciate the passions people have shown here this year. People are involved and engaged...a lot more this year than I saw in '04 and this bodes well for the future.
Honestly, the shit flying here this year was no worse than the Dean/Kucinich/Clark battles of '04 and then all the bitching about supporting a "DINO/DLCer" like Kerry...in the end, this place closed ranks and many of us worked our asses off that year. DU was our island of sanity in a world far more accepting of Repugnicans than they are now.
The real problem is the length of the primaries...it starts the moment the last election begins. I blame a combination of the corporate media (who profits from these prolonged campaigns) and a large cadre of political "consultants" and others who make big-time, full-time coin on these campaigns. The DNC will need to revise the primary system for 2012...and my hopes are they shorten the season...moving the primaries back to April through June and rotate the states that have early and late primaries

So long was the hype before even a single vote was cast. The media is so drunk on their own kool aid and of course self importance. But we must soldier on dear ones.
