This will be the first primary ever where I decided in the voting booth!

In 1988, I didn't vote in the primary, but I did vote for Dukakis (and took a lot of ribbing for it in my repug-leaning suburb at age 19).

In 1992, I was a year or so into a right-wing kick caused by listening to too much Limbaugh and a serious lack of life experience - I voted for Bush Sr. - Again, didn't vote in the primaries.

In 1996, after traveling the world a bit and seeing how other countries do things, and having realized that Bill Clinton did NOT destroy the country and drive it into depression, I voted for Clinton in the primaries and general election.

In 2000, I had become frustrated with 8 years of right-leaning policy by Clinton, and by Gore's attempt to run as a conservative democrat. Bush was running as a compassionate conservative, and Gore seemed to have it sewn up, so I cast a protest vote. For Nader. In Florida. (Yes, I am deeply, deeply sorry.)

In 2004, I had no hesitation - I voted for Dean in the primaries and don't regret it. Clark was also a good candidate. I was rather mystified as to why people voted for Kerry. Still am.

But now it's 2008. I'm faced with a choice - vote for Hillary - a bright, talented woman who has positioned herself as a conservative dem, but whose true sentiments may be a bit more progressive. She's very friendly (beholden to?) corporations and carries a good deal of baggage. But I have no doubt that she will run a helluva campaign and not go down without a fight (like some other recent candidates have...)

Then there's Obama - also bright, talented and immensely likeable, in place of Hillary's negatives, he's got THE NAME and a muslim dad, both of which will be exploited relentlessly in the GE. He's also a little more establishment and corporate-friendly than I'd like, but I do think he might inspire a lot of new people to vote.

And then there's the off chance that I might just write in Edwards, since that's who I've been for since day one.

Every day I vacillate between these choices, and it is strange to feel so uncertain about what to do.

I guess I'll let you know what I did Super Tuesday night!

1. I'm still voting Edwards. the primary is where I vote my heart, the GE
is where I vote my gut.

I don't think I've ever voted for the eventual nominee in the primary except for Jimmy Carters' re-election, my first primary vote. I still think Bill Bradley and Bruce Babbitt would have made excellent presidents. (sigh...)

2. IMO it really doesn't matter all that much, no matter what we will have a winner
and America is going to be so very much better off. I like both Obama and Clinton and my dream is that they would form a ticket...Edwards would make an excellent AG..

3. I hadn't even thought of him as AG...
Can you Imagine a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket with Edwards as AG? That would be pretty cool!

4. How will you decide?
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 11:24 AM by LizW
Coin toss? I'm considering that.

Or, maybe I'll close my eyes and put my finger on the ballot and see who it comes closest to.

It is really strange to be a truly undecided voter. I have never been undecided before.

The other day I was leaning Obama, then suddenly, yesterday, I was leaning Hillary.

It's weird.

One thing is for sure, though. I WILL go vote. I will nag my husband to go vote.

We should have a thread Tuesday night for the undecided to tell which way they went!
