Are we dependent, or independent of our government? |
|
How much do we absolutely depend on our government? Do you depend on our government to fix social security? To fix pot holes? To keep the electricity on? To defend us from terrorists? Do you depend absolutely on our government for almost every single thing?
Or are we independent, in the sense that we don't need our government to tell us what to do or not do? Could you live independent of our government? Do we depend too much on our government, or just enough? CAN we depend on our government to look out for all of our best interests?
Is our government dependable? That depends. If your government became undependable, could you ever be independent of IT? Are we more dependent of our local governments, than our federal government?
We should re-examine our Declaration of Independence, it is a dusty old piece of parchment, its from a time long ago, a world that was much different than now, but it is still relevant. When your government is corrupt and has become a monstrous, ghastly and unbearable abomination, you must declare yourself independent of it.

1. But we cannot declare ourselves independent of our fellow citizens. |
|
We have to realize that we are all in this boat together.

2. I'm rereading the document right now. I'm only on the second paragraph. |
|
But I have to say, You're absolutely brilliant. It's time to redeclare our independance. This government is NOTHING without We The People.

By which I mean, let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. I grant you, things are pretty messed up; but we really can't make it in a technological age without a strong government.
Keep in mind, if it weren't for the government, we would all be dead from DDT; you could still walk across the sludge on Lake Eerie; polio would be rampant; there would be no internet, etc.
Beware. The corporate media tries to promote anti-government sentiment, as this tends to demoralize the left. They want you hating and fearing your own government.

4. personally, I want nothing from the government... except for them to leave me the hell alone |
|
I know that's not a wildly popular sentiment here on DU, but everything they offer is tainted, IMO.

6. Totally dependent...we the people give them too much power and TOO MUCH CONTROL. |
|
That's what happens when we the people can't be bothered to take care of themselves.
After the Declaration, read the Constitution - see the list of power we granted to the federal govt? It isn't very long. Yet ALL we hear talk of is MORE government and MORE control, and our government was NOT set up to be a nanny state - which is why they suck at it!
