“The Stepford Wives” tells the chilling story of once smart, independent women who get abducted and turned into tamed, mindless robots.

I have a theory about a similarly subversive process that turns grown men once capable of independent and reasoned thought into robotic extremists. Call them Stepford Republicans. The nefarious transformation always occurs before the individual gets close to becoming a Republican president or vice president.

Stepford Wives become robotically subservient only to their husbands; they pose no threat to the rest of us. But Stepford Republicans become subservient to right-wing forces of corporatism, war and prejudice. Once converted into mindless ideologues, Stepford Republicans are a threat to us all.

6. First is "The Invasion," a well made retread of two prior offerings

One of which is Invasion of The Body Snatchers, 1978 ... that's the one w/Donald Sutherland. The story is a novel from Jack Finney, made into a film in 1956. It's been a science fiction classic ever since, as all good speculative fiction tells a human story. Finney's novel was an analogy for the terrifying loss of empathy and emotion, coupled with the sociopolitical climate of that era {McCarthyism}, which continued on - with even greater levels of paranoia re The Establishment in Philip Kaufman's chilling 1978 remake. The recent offering with Nicole Kidman is wrought with notions of govt/corporate conspiracy, and is effectively creepy transposed against many common conspiracies of the Bush era i.e. horrifying scenes of those who express emotion being chased down in the streets by police/military, FEMA, media propaganda, flu outbreaks and "vaccinations," etc

Once a Human has no empathy...Reason, Common Sense, Logic, etc, goes out the window. Decision Making is focused on outcome...fuck consequenses...
