I don't think ol' Johnny can make it through one term, let alone two. So this matters - at least in the abstract.

If we are saddled with a John McCain as president, who would you want to see as his vice president? Obviously it has to be a Repubic or a Lieberman .... suggesting you'd want ...... I dunno ..... Mario Cuomo ..... isn't a good answer.

There is no purpose other than to smear JM.

13. That's the response I was waiting for. Thank you for proving Obama's entire
premise to be a crock of shit.

Yes, we need to attack Republicans - not praise them!

12. VP choice is always a big issue.
Do you pick one who would be a good pres if something happened to pres (normal death or assassination), or do you pick an absolute fool (Quayle type) which would ensure you are not assassinated? It is always an issue, whether or not the pres is healthy or not.

18. The question in my OP was discussed at a pre Stupor Bowl party yesterday .....
It was funny that Hagel's and Powell's names were most popular among the known Republicans in the group. I presented my view as to why Powell is undeserving (He should have resigned if he knew the WMD crap he was asked to spew at the UN was, indeed, crap. He has since admitted he knew. **All** the Republicans in the group agreed that was a sound reason to disqualify him.)

My choice ...... Bill Weld of Massachusetts.

23. Surprising that Hagel and Powell would be well-regarded among
ANY group of Republicans. Freepville hates them both, but then, I suppose not all Repubs are Freeper extremists. Powell is a known liar, so yes, he's disqualified--plus, he can be rolled by the neocons--definitely out. Hagel has proven he can stand up to the neocons and the GOP Senate, at least. Weld, I forgot about! I remember him as vaguely moderate.

24. The group included Republicans ...... no nut jobbie far right wack jobs
They didn't like Romney or Huckleberry ***at all***.

They all were willing to give Powell a pass until I said he admitted he knew it was all bullshit and yet he still said what he said. That kinda shocked them. They also know I'm not a nut and will not feed them bullshit; no one doubted my tale about Powell.

They're the ones who named Hagel. I never even suggested it. In fact, I was the first one asked who I would like to see if we had to have McCain. I said Weld to balance things out a bit. Weld is an old time Northeastern Republican .... closer to Chaffee than the run of the mill nutters we get in Congress.
