I swatted 3 mosquitoes a few minutes that were trying to bite me!
Was a new record high temperature for the date, 81 degrees this afternoon and thunderstorms forecast for tonight (northeast Oklahoma)...I was sitting on the back steps playing with the cat when I got attacked by the little beasties.

I don't remember EVER seeing mosquitoes in February before. There were lots of houseflies buzzing around too. And last fall there were zillions of lightning bugs right up to the end of October!
:scared:

15. I'll send spackling and warn your neighbors.
Karl, no scotch beforehand... That big fat one that lands on your arm might be too tempting or look like Cheney. :)

6. Very warm here in N. Texas today also. I've seen mosquitoes
periodically all through the fall and winter. And flies too. None today though probably due to wind.

The seasons have been feeling...different...here the past couple of years. There's definately a change in the climate here towards milder year-round temperature and climate. Summers have been cooler and winters warmer. Not much storm action lately though.

7. Isn't the mosquito the state bird of Texas?
(Or is that Louisiana?) :dunce:

14. I think a case could be made by both states. :) And, as an addendum
to my previous post, as it turns out record highs were posted all over North Texas today and we're being told to brace for some rough thunderstorms later this evening.

Welcome to the new face of winter in North Texas!

11. meanwhile, in the Left Coast hills, 45 deg seemed balmy
It has been remarkably cold for here, with snow levels often down to 1500'. Today was sunny, but it is supposed to cloud up again.

I was putting groceries in my car, thinking that it was really nice outside. Then I noticed the time/temp. sign down the road said 45 deg (F). Thought to self: I am getting used to the damned cold, when 45 seems warm.

Snow country people may laugh, but this is "sunny" California.
