Rice Was ‘Uninterested In Advising The President’ Before 9/11,
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/02/04/rice-911-commission/">Wanted To Be His ‘Closest Confidante’

Tomorrow, New York Times reporter Philip Shenon will release his book The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Investigation, revealing “failure at the highest levels of the United States government.”

Shenon singles out Condoleezza Rice as inept, more interested in being President Bush’s buddy than securing the nation. Newsweek editor Evan Thomas writes a preview of the book:

The official ineptitude uncovered by the commission is shocking. Dubbed “Kinda-Lies-a-Lot” by the Jersey Girls, Ms. Rice comes across as almost clueless about the terrorist threat. “Whatever her job title, Rice seemed uninterested in actually advising the president,” Mr. Shenon writes. “Instead, she wanted to be his closest confidante — specifically on foreign policy — and to simply translate his words into action.”

And then there's Ashcroft:

Another particularly bumbling figure in Shenon’s book is John Ashcroft. On July 17, 2001, the then-Attorney General “received the same CIA briefing about an imminent al-Qaida strike on an American target.” While Rice was interested in cozying up to Bush, Ashcroft was focused on protecting gun owners:

Attorney General John Ashcroft appears more interested in protecting gun owners from government intrusion than in stopping terrorism, and dismissively tells Pickard that he doesn’t want to hear any more about threats of attacks.

How can people not GET how incompetent these people are? I just don't understand.

4. The story is finally starting to be told
Bush ordered Condi and the rest of his staff not to do anything about terrorism and not to bother him about it until a simple solution that was not actually possible could be reached. "I'm tired of swatting at flies" Bush said.

Bush's approach to terrorism was a combination of all his worst qualities. He gave orders with no advice or forethought, based only on his emotional responses to issues. He treasured his ignorance. He punished people who tried to do the right thing instead of following his orders. He punished people who questioned him. Bush's idiocy got 3,000 people killed.

Nothing about what happened came out, save a little noticed article in the Washington a few months after 9/11. Bush was able to win back the presidency based on his ability to fight terrorism.

It was obvious that the 9/11 Commission covered up for Bush. Finally, the truth is coming out.

yet the Dems voted overwhelmingly for her to be Sec. of State
where she has been mostly useless & incomptent, as well.

26. And that's bad for us how?
She's not just incompetent, she's fucking evil, just like George W. Bush.

Incompetence is the best quality of both of those people, because that incompetence prevents them from successfully realizing their truly evil aspirations.

So yeah, making her Secretary of State sucks, but it also ensures that the damage done will be random and hopefully salvageable. Put Richard Perle in the same position, and we'd all be radioactive isotopes by now.

That, and pacifying the public, and covering up the involvement of the CIA in running al-Qaeda in and out of the U.S. as part of an illegal domestic operation.

It certainly was Phil Zelikow's. No doubt, of his colleague, Condi Rice, as well.

Are they stupid and inept? Is McCain as just as stupid and inept?

Or

Was it all deliberate and does McCain follow this plan? Or is he stupid and insane?

11. When US citizens haves been elected to the highest postions
of the Government there is absolutely no room for stupidity or ineptitude.

Their actions or lack of actions must be considered Treason. They willfully and intentionally put the country at risk to push their party politics.

All of them must be prosecuted for Treason.

19. Well if the Constitution defines the penalty as such then those
who commit the highest of high crimes should suffer the penalities.

The Rosenbergs suffered hanging in the 50's for lesser offenses than what this bunch of Treasonous Traitors have done.

Of course I just watched the movie Breach about the FBI Traitor Robert Hanssen who committed Espionage and sold our top government secrets to the Soviets....he spied for 22 years and got a lot of people killed and he only got life for pleading guilty to 15 counts of espionage.

31. And the worst thing is that
Congress could have been wiped out if United 93 had reached its target and knocked down the dome of the Capitol.

Bush-Rumsfeld-Cheney just sat there and did nothing as two airliners zeroed in on Washington.

The Dems (and non-complicit Repubs) should be screaming blue murder to get Bush-Cheney out of power for their own safety.
Not to mention the anthrax mailer is still running around freely.

NOT ONCE did they ask the hard question - where were Condi and Ashcroft?
NOT ONCE did they investigate the run up to 9/11
NOT ONCE did they spend serious time with Richard Clarke, Even AFTER Clarke was making noise about the problems in the White House and the threats from outside.

Ashcroft Flying High
Attorney General Travels By Private Jet At Taxpayer Expense

WASHINGTON, July 26, 2001

(CBS) Fishing rod in hand, Attorney General John Ashcroft left on a weekend trip to Missouri Thursday afternoon aboard a chartered government jet, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart.

In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

Now, I wonder what sort of "threat assessment" that was?

27. The guy who warned about "remote control planes" in July 2001
...Hatfield felt that other information damaging to the Bushes must lurk in the pages of the book, hidden between the lines, things that would become evident when a missing piece surfaced. An organization like the Bush machine with so much illegal activity in its history has any number of potential scandals that could emerge at any time. Damage control is an ongoing part of their operations. To someone who knew the facts, those scandals must stick out of the text of Fortunate Son like so many sore thumbs. Hatfield thought that must have been why the Bush machine took such a personal interest in keeping the book off the shelves. And time only seems to enhance the credibility of the theory.

Since Hatfield's death, I have often wondered what those other hidden scandals were. We may be on the verge of finding out some big ones.

Linda Starr has this to add, "I'd like to remind everyone how vilified Jim Hatfield was by the Bush Machine and how often Jim has been completely correct about Dumbyass and company. I am also proud to once again say that Jim Hatfield was my friend and deserves vindication for his hard work on Bush. They destroyed him as surely as if they murdered him. As my daddy always said, even a chicken can eventually peck you to death. The Bush Machine pecked Jim Hatfield to death." ...
