A year or so ago, I heard about a concept called International World Television - folks around the world attempting to set up a non-corporate, publicly funded alternative news network that accepted NO corporate funding, NO government funding, and NO advertising. It was supported by many names that I recognized and respected(click the Supporter link). I sent them a small donation and monitored their site occasionally, but never saw anything really happening. Well, it seems like now, it IS happening. Please check this link and pass the word. This is their beta site. It is primarily video, so dial-up users be warned.

We who complain so much (usually to no effect whatsoever) about the undue influence that a biased, dumbed-down, and sometimes overtly corrupt corporate press wields over our democracy - finally, here is a chink in that armor.
