Poll worker asked my neighbor in front of me, What party ballot do you want? In a whisper Republican |
|
Kind of like the good old boy was ashamed to say Republican out loud where a lot of people could hear him or something.
Woman asked me and I said in my normal voice, "Democratic please."
I didn't have anything to be ashamed of. But it seemed like my Repig neighbor did.

17. Ron Paul has a dopey base and is wrong on EVERYTHING except the war. |
|
There is really no difference between the Lyndon Larouche crackpots hanging out in front of the Post Office and the average Ron Paul supporter.

19. I grew up in a Democratic home. |
|
I remember watching Martin Luther King speak (on tv) with my family, and how our hearts soared.
Do you really think you would be a Democrat if you were raised in a republican family, or totally republican culture? Maybe you were, tell me about it, thanks.

26. I'm now a solid Democrat and was raised in a Repub family and culture. |
|
It took me a while to find my way and I sort of switched back and forth between the 2 parties but I'm now a solid Democrat - now that I'm a bit older and wiser.

I do know that my dad voted for Bush in 2000, and my mom voted for Kerry in 2004.

29. I am a Democrat raised in a thoroughly publican home |
|
all of my 8 brothers and sisters are publicans (though some are more hypocritical than others and I only really talk to one sister anymore) and not only am I a fairly liberal Democrat, but I've raised a politically aware and environmentally responsible 19 yr old democrat who is voting in her first election this year! I'm so proud! (she called me yesterday in response to a msg I left her to let me know that "yes mom, I'm registered to vote! geeze... can I go back to work now?" lol)

9. Wow! In my Wisconsin experience both parties are on the same ballot, but if you |
|
cross party lines with your primary votes (meaning only that if you vote for some Democrats and some Republicans) then the ballot is invalid.
How weird that you have separate ballots! Is this a closed primary? If it is, why do they need to ask party affiliation? Shouldn't you have been vetted when you signed in and sent separate ways? I actually feel bad for the guy's discomfort.

13. I think you are right |
|
in a primary you can be registered for either party or no party, but you can vote in either parties primary without having to declare you intention.
However in which ever party primary you participate, you must only vote in that parties primary.
Example: you could not vote for a GOP candidate for governor and a Dem for Senator.
Has to be one party or the other all the way down the ballot.
But you can choose either parties primary to participate in.

He definitely seemed unconformable.
He might have been reading my mind when I was wondering to myself why he would be voting for the party of public bathroom sniffing, diaper wearing, child molesting GOPers. He seemed almost normal before today.
Because that is what I was thinking then and will be thinking from here on out.
Fortunately from now on I will know something is amiss with this good old boy.
Being sent different ways probably wouldn't help either. I would know the people going my way are Dems and the reptiles crawling in another direction are Repigs. Probably no easy way.

22. It is against the whole "private ballot" thing. Privacy in voting's good, I think. |
|
One gal on a knitting board (Ravelry's Stitching Liberally group) said her request in a very, very red district for a Dem ballot was yelled out across the room by the poll worker so everyone could turn and stare at her, which they did. Very uncomfortable for her.
I think they should have the same ballot, personally.

27. I voted very early this morning and there was some confusion |
|
with the ballots. I live in New York where we use the good ole fashioned lever machines. Anyway, I go up to sign in and there's some confusion as to which machine I am to use. They accidentally sent me to a Republican booth. Then I go, "I'm sorry ma'am, but I'm a Democrat!" Stupid story, but I live in a very Republican area so I take small jibes when I can.
