CIA Director Hayden confirms names of torture/waterboarding victims

<snip>
CIA Director Michael Hayden on Tuesday publicly confirmed for the first time the names of three suspected al-Qaida terrorists who were subjected to a particularly harsh interrogation technique known as waterboarding, and why.

As for waterboarding, it was used on only three people more than five years ago. For the first time, he identified them in public — Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Abu Zubaydah, and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri. Mohammed was the purported mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States.

They were subjected to waterboarding "because of the circumstances of the time — the belief that additional catastrophic attacks were imminent at a time when the U.S. had limited knowledge of how al-Qaida worked," Hayden.

In other words TORTURE

One thing's for sure - Bush and Cheney have been exposed in yet another cover up. "We don't do torture" is another fugging lie.

Add.

9. What won't be stated is that these people were tortured to
learn how much they knew about BushCo involvement. See also: Dead Arabian Princes.

12. Does anyone believe there were only three victims?
Or that, as they attempted to phrase it, waterboarding was only used on three occasions? Obviously, they feel pretty confident that there is no evidence of other incidents.

As usual, they are following the same tired script:

1) We don't torture.
2) We only torture as necessary and only a little bit.

They they get busted and the full disclosure is:

3) They deserved it and we need to protect Amurika at any cost. Anyone who says otherwise is an unpatriotic coward.

From what I understand, two incidents of waterboarding have led to permanent brain damage in two individuals, at least one of whom is now insane - from being tortured.

If we wait until waterboarding becomes a standard and accepted military/agency practice, domestic use isn't far behind and it will be too late. Search YouTube for the "Stark Strip Search" if you don't think we're approaching a complete breakdown of civil society.

Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 11:10 AM by L. Coyote
Or is it for Waterboarding?

Must be, because War Criminal would be W.C.
