Why I didn't vote any answer in the Indian Gaming initiative |
|
Look, I'm all for Indian Gaming. Lots of money has gone into tribal areas that previously had nothing. Schools are built, jobs are created, life gets better. Sure, the mafia is taking a cut, but every time you buy goods that passed through Chicago or NYC, there is a chance you inderectly paid the mob.
But what the initiative is is a petty squabble between tribes over who can set up where...and that isnt an issue for the voters to decide - its an issue for the COURTS. That's why we fucking have them.
Ok, rant over.

1. When Arnold Schwarsenegger asked voters in a commercial |
|
to vote yes on our Indian Gaming initiatives (there were several), it made up my mind and I voted no. It was easy.

2. Maybe he's right, maybe he's wrong |

I read the initiatives and concluded that there is no way a voter can make an informed decision on the information given. Sounds like the job of a jury to me.

4. Actually, a decision was already made, but Arnold |
|
needs the money to pay for California's budget problems. He ran on the premise that he was going to do better with the mess than Grey Davis did but hasn't been able to do any better than Davis. Also, he hired the person who created the mess, former Governor Pete Wilson as a consultant. Go figure. These initiatives are not straightforward so they need to be nulled.

3. Good thinking. In Arizona, we've had initiatives that were basically the same. |
|
I avoided those as well.

5. It seems to me that most of the ads are urging a 'yes' vote |

When I see a barage of expensive radio and TV ads for one side on these voter propositions, I always wonder who or what is really funding them and why.

9. Good because that's what I voted, mainly because Arnold |

12. I voted for half yes half no |
|
Just to see what happens to the deals if half of them get to expand their casino's and half don't. Muhahahahaha. I love when they let you vote yes for expanding gambling on one prop and no on another.
