George w. Bush may have helped us in a way we had not considered
By being SO damned BAD, he woke up the sleeping giant that is the electorate.

I seem to remember another time in history that this happened.

Hoover "begat" FDR..

Perhaps our 8 year journey into the pit of darkness and despair, has led us to a place in time where people who never cared one way or the other, have risen up and said.. We are paying attention now, and we are ready to take back control.

My faith is somewhat restored when I see so many "new" people speaking out, and so many young people realizing that they do count

My challenge to you all is this..

Ask everyone you know, you meet, this question between now and November..

ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE?

and after you get THEM registered, ask THEM to ask THEIR friends to do the same.

No matter how fired up we all are, if people "miss the deadline" for registration, or do not double check to make SURE they are registered, we will lose out on the chance to send a POWERFUL mandate in November..

We need to vote in OVERWHELMING numbers this fall.

Just enough...is NOT enough..

The media does not "see" the numbers when we march or when we protest. but they WILL see the numbers in November if each one of us convince 5 more and they convince 5 more..

1. Can you imagine what it must feel like right now to be GWB?
Dear Lord -- what an indictment on his administration.

He deserves every bit of it.

9. You assume he has feelings
Actually, I think he does have feelings, he's just numb to them.

14. I can't wait until Golden Books releases his illustrated biography...
"Bedtime Stories for Really Bad Children"

But you're absolutely correct: Ignoring him completely will be the best revenge. Right after his rotting in a cell after his trial at the Hague.

18. Incredibly rich with dozens of similarly newly incredibly rich friends?
You can see the remorse in their every action.

They're businessmen raiding the country, in league with foreign business such as Arabia and China. Nothing more. They are NOT politicians. There is zero use in expecting them to suddenly begin to care about anything other than their profit margins.

8. Just the fact that we are finally paying attention could "create" an FDR
for us.. and at the very least, it might put the rest ON NOTICE, that we are not going to sit idly by anymore ..

one can hope !

The country is going for the vapid, feel-good, sloganeering rockstar, not any of the people with programs of substance.

I'd say all TPTB feel is validated.

What "created" FDR was disaster and the fear of armed rebellion. We ain't there yet.

6. Waking up....
I hope they do pay attention en masse and make sure the elected officials know they/we are PAYING ATTENTION NOW. Wake up, sit up, and take action. Make elected officials accountable if they don't come through on their promises during campaigns. Don't sit back down and go to sleep.

Let the republicans mess up so much and so badly we will have a landslide

Its why I am suspicious of everything they do, they are not weak they are calculating.

13. Today's conversation, at a Rotary Club meeting
A: I changed my registration to Libertarian, then found out I could not vote in the Democratic primary. I thought of changing my registration at the last minute, but it would have been a mess.

B: I have been a registered Republican for my entire life, but I changed my registration so I could vote for Obama.

Me: (momentarily shocked at what I was hearing!)I voted for Edwards as a protest vote, even if he is not officially still in.

Neither person seemed to be even slightly disturbed about my choice. It was really strange.
