Indianapolis - just heard lightening strike... close - now there are emergency
vehicles a couple of houses down the street. I have no windows on that side of the house - had to wait a few minutes (for the storm to move a little further on) before looking to see what might have been hit.

Listening to the news coverage - and there is nothing about problems within the city - just about the west of the city. Just a reminder that while under a tornado warning - listening to the ocverage lags behind the realtiy of what is on the ground.

Prayers to those hit in Tennessee, and everywhere inbetween. And Prayers to my neighbors.

BE CAREFUL!

4. thanks - I seem to be surrounded by something bad that went down.
three houses to the north - fire truck. three houses to the south - ambulances. Urban neighborhood - so it is all pretty close. But NO news on the news.

3. I am on battery power - on a lap top.
Only about half power so don't know for how long.

Just went back out front to look and now there is a fire truck three houses down on the other side (three houses north a fire truck; three houses south ambulances). It is really disturbing to have NO idea what is happening - but that it is right *here*

Still nothing on the major news channels about it. And I am only about 1.5 miles southeast of downtown.

6. heh -
I just walked outside (have lived in "tornado alley" long enough to have sense of when that is okay.) - the fire truck and the one of the block is gone - the storm center has moved away but the powerlines in front of the house nextdoor (not lived in) are hanging low - and the emergency vehicles are beyond that - neighbors two houses down (on the other side of the empty house) were also emerging out to make sure there wasn't an imenent danger (ala a burning house next door...)

Also called my boss to suggest that if I am late for work (unless I call, which is rare, I am never late for work) - to call family - he said there wouldn't be time to call my family as they would all be coming to my house to check on me ;-)

Storms here are fast and furious - but move on (leaving wreakage in their wake) quickly.

I very much appreciate your sentiments. Thanks. I was a wee bit worried when I first posted this.

7. You're welcome.
My sister got struck by lightning while in her house, against a window fan.

She is okay, but needed it like she needed a hole in the spine.

8. Very glad that your sister is okay
though I would suspect she was quite spooked. Sounds like a frightening experience for her.

It is easy to take forgranted that the storm will pass - take precautions, but don't really internalize how serious the problems could be if there were a strike (lightening or tornado).
