16 year old daughter asked me if there were any decent republicans |
|
and I couldn't think of any
she asked " you would acknowledge one if it happened wouldn't you"
I had to stop and think...
I guess I would but it hasn't happened

7. Look for someone local. |
|
Occasionally you can find a decent one locally.
We have a couple of decent ones who are in county offices but at that level they tend to run with whoever will take them.

for whoever will take them.
Look for a sheriff or a coroner. Often they'll switch parties as needed.

Not any more. Lincoln, however, was pretty cool, as was Barry Goldwater. (n/t) |

He improved as he got older and by contrast with the even worse nutwingers who followed him.

10. There are a lot of good people who are GOP |
|
either because that's how their family always registered or because they've been gullible enough to buy the party line and are too embarrassed to admit they've been bamboozled by the slickest bunch of thieves and liars in the history of this country. They're decent enough in their everyday lives, they just believe a lot of things that aren't true and vote that way.
That's how I'd answer it. One of my coworkers at my last job turned GOP when she snagged a yuppie husband. She wasn't dumb or self centered, just blinded by true love.
His job has gone west with the real estate boom here, so I'm thinking she's rethinking her commitment to that party.

one of them as asked by the county Republican party not to participate anymore because she voiced concerns about a county party platform that included pushing to get creationism declared a scientific fact and evolution to be declared a baseless theory by the local school system. She also objected to a local campaign strategy of pushpoll calls asking voters how they would feel if they knew a certain Dem town candidate had had 4 abortions and was on drugs. (outright lie)
There are decent people out there who believe in small government, empowerment of the individual but also compassion for the disabled etc and simply do not even recognize the monster the Pukes have turned the Republican party into.

I was really sad when he lost his election because he seemed like a genuinely decent guy.
Of course, if he'd won, the Senate would still be in the hands of the Republicans, so I'm okay with it now. :)
(On edit: I took out the part about his party's voters not liking him, because I remembered it wrong. It's just that more voters voted for a Democrat, so I retract my statement about how he was punished for being a good guy.)
