I was right, as usual: Fundies will take Huckabee over Romney |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 12:34 AM by sampsonblk
Romeny has no chance at the GOP nomination because he is a Mormon. If you look at the garbage he claims to support in this cycle, he would seem a perfect fit for the RW extremist set. But they are just not going to vote for a Mormon. Many of them consider Mormonism to be equivalent to Satanism.
So as long as Huckabee stays in the race, McCain is in great shape.
And when the general election comes, not a one of them has a chance in hell of beating a good Dem candidate.

3. This is why I was hoping for a Romney win... |

but whatever happens, we should be in decent position in the fall. Well, unless ONE Dem who shall remain unnamed wins the nomination. But this person shall remain unnamed!

4. Romney has recreated himself once too often. |

My repub parents won't vote for him because he's a Mormon. And they think McCain is "an old man" even though they are also in their 70s. I suppose they would vote for Huckabee, but only if he looks like he'd win. They are terrified of "wasting" their votes! LOL.

It's been my opinion all along that he was deluding himself if he thought religious whackos would vote for him.
His Mormonism alone would have been sufficient to block him with that gang.
But it's also clear that he either lied when he laid out his positions to win the Massachusetts Governorship, or he's lying about his position now, or he has no intrinsic values at all, and either way, that's a deal-breaker too.

6. "...McCain is in great shape." |

Yeah, I hope McCain gets the nomination. No matter what he says or does, as soon as someone mentions his age and health (he's rapidly becoming a sickly albino), the subliminal will take over and he won't stand a chance.
The whole "Manchurian Candidate" angle is good too, but I would never stoop so low or be anything but disappointed if our candidate - or their campaign - did. However, I wouldn't put it past the Republic smear machine. His professed views are crazy enough without bothering with conspiracy theories about brainwashing and what it may have done to his mental health.

8. We are constantly told Dubya is in prime physical condition... |

bordering on Olympic athlete status. "The most physically fit President in U.S. history" is how I've often heard him described.
Yet it's obvious to me, via his own appearance and behavior, that he's a slope-shouldered, wimpy, accident-prone, cognitively-impaired substance abuser.
By the time the election rolls around, the MSM will be working 24-7 on making John McCain look like a young, vibrant, energetic sex God. You might even believe it.

The guy is a great campaigner. Lots of money. And he says all the absolute garbage the RW voters want to hear. But that religion barrier is just too much to overcome.
