Story of another non-voter
Unlike the clueless non-voter I described in another thread, there is one other individual in my office who did not vote.

This person is whip smart, a company executive. If he did vote, he'd be a likely McCain voter. But...he refuses, REFUSES to vote! Claims that he'll be summoned for jury duty if he registers to vote, despite my offer of proof to the contrary. Claims that it's his right not to vote. When I suggest that it's a responsibility as well as a right, I am treated to a diatribe on how military service is also a responsibility, a responsibility that HE chose to fulfill while I did not.

How do you argue with such a person...and do I even want to? How do you get the stubborn non-voter to the polls? I ask with genuine interest as a Democratic committeewoman who consistently faces voters in her neighborhood who persist in voting against their own interests, as well as those who want nothing to do with the process.

1. You can't argue with a corporate asshole.
He's indoctrinated in his own sense of
righteousness and entitlement.

2. My Response to Non-Voters
"If you don't vote, you can't bitch." And most people do bitch about what is happening in our country--one way or another.

3. I had a colleague once who bragged that he didn't vote
Had never voted, etc. I think it was one of those philosophies about how the system is so screwed up it would make no difference.

Maybe it is best these morans don't vote. They would probably vote for whoever the media told them to vote for anyway.

4. Freedom of choice.
How many "active" Democrats in this forum don´t have a clue as to who they should vote for, how many comment that their vote won´t count anyway, etc?

Voting is a choice, not a right choice or a wrong choice.
