More Self-Dealing: Bush Admin Leaking Stock Market Data Before the Bell?
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 04:29 PM by elehhhhna
Great catch on this story, DUer screembloodymurder ;)

Was Payroll Report Leaked?

Its been a busy day so just now have time to address this issue here. It was apparent, at least to us, that someone had information that the nonfarms payroll report was not just going to come in low, but below even the low estimates (such as ours). While waiting for the release we watched in amazement as 20 seconds before 8:30:00 the ten year treasury note contract moved up 10 tics on heavy volume, a time period when traders are most likely to be poised to buy or sell based on their position after the data.

2. Yes. LIke on 9.10.01. IMO the market's been unnaturally exhuberent
for the last 6 years in anticipation of a massive captial infusion due to the privatisiation of social security.

Wonder how that's going. :eyes:

Here is the story.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aGaC.HuMjA7w&refer=home

The claim is that someone with access to the info was talking with friends and accidentally mentioned how bad the numbers were. He then realized that they might use the info and told his superiors that the info was compromised. The old link may indicate that this is an ongoing problem.
