Why Do They Say We Are At War?
Even some Democrats say that, and pisses me off, we are NOT at war.....
They should know, because only Congress can declare war, unless Bush changed
the Constitution over night....

1. I agree... I always use the phrase "illegal invasion" to decscribe what we've done
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 04:27 PM by ixion
and "hostile occupation" to describe what we're doing now.

2. The last time we declared war was WWII
We still have wars, we just call them "police action" or some such crap, to skirt around the Constitution. Nobody can deny that we are at war in Iraq.

3. If you were in it, what it's called wouldn't matter to you. War, police action,

or whatever you want to call it, they all look the same to those involved. If it were only a game of semantics and not killing, wouldn't that be nice.

5. Um, because we invaded a couple of other countries and are now
killing their citizens in an effort to impose our will upon them. And have been for several years. You know........

Oh, heck. I don't get it either.

7. They think people still remember WWII. A few of us do but
we are becoming fewer and fewer and there are a lot more of us who still remember Vietnam, which this invasion more resembles. Also, I believe Vietnam's euphemism for war was a "police action" because they knew it was an illegal invasion as well. It was never officially called a war. Maybe if Congress decides that Bush launched an illegal war, we can impeach him. Yawn... I know this sissy, pansy Congress won't.

8. The euphemism "War on Terra" has morphed to cover everything we do.
But keep using the terms "illegal military action" and "illegal invasion". Perhaps, someday, the point of what they've done will sink in and enough of our fellow citizens will wake the hell up.
