Who Conservatives fear most
Edited on Sun Feb-10-08 12:37 AM by fedupconservative
I thought this would be quite obvious but from the posts I've been following, it seems some really aren't sure who my party fears the most.

I think Dems underestimate the ill feeling that are carried over from the Clinton Yrs. No one seems to have forgotten about Travelgate, the WH China, or Hillary's 1st attempt at Universal Healthcare. Add to all that, the consensus is she's just a plain 'ol B. For some reason, she seems to be as big a rallying cry for the right as GW was for you guys in 2008. Just the way it is on my side(former side).

Obama on the other hand scares the piss out of us. Not that we see any difference with him and Hillary on the issues, he just has a way about him that even though we might not agree with what he's saying, we feel he's an honest man. Then there's his speech and debate skills. We felt Romney would match up quite well against him but that's not going to happen now. Against Huck, we were scared schitless. He's the relative you want to lock in the closet. Only the bible thumper's are inspired by him. We knew he'd get destroyed, he just can't help himself. McCain, we're not so sure. We're still trying to figure out if we like him or not, let alone how we'd feel with him head to head against Obama.

I will say, the one issue that's a wild card for Obama is how many on my side will believe he's a Muslim fanatic in disguise who showed himself when he wouldn't put his hand on his chest during the pledge. I kid you not, many of the intellectually challenged on my side think these are facts and could prove to be a rallying cry for Repubs.

Myself, I'm leaning towards Obama. I feel he's the most anti corporation of the bunch and to me, a recent disallusioned Conservative, that's one of the biggest problems facing America today. But honestly, I'm thinking I'll support whichever Dem candidate gets the nod. We need to get out of Iraq and we need to change the way healthcare is run in our country.

1. It is the Independents or swing voters

who generally tip an election one way or another. In 2000 and 04, even the moderates seemed split. I am confounded to this day as to why it was a close call in either one. The votes for Bush, even if you take election fraud into account, were insulting to a civilized nation. I think many of us will be motivated and enraged over the Bush years for some time to come. I just regret that the Repugs are more committed to defending their selfishness than we are committed to unify as a party to oppose and defeat them. My candidate has folded. I, too, will vote for either Clinton or Obama and will let the voters in the remaining primaries make the ultimate choice.

2. You might be right about this cycle
But you can never underestimate the motivational power of hate.

Just something to keep in mind.
