2. If you wake in the night or early morning

"don't go back to sleep, the whispers of the wind have something to tell you"...

Could be a chill that tosses you, could be the call of the wind
you awaken the deepest part inside you, you listen, within.
The shadows cast, all unlike, the suns sharp rays of morning light
the still of them, while waves tickle the grains of sands of time.

The pipers feed and play the tide
while oceans pull and throw out wide
and grays abound in the shadow cast
a moment held while all else passed.


(When it's this late, I speak this way, so I guess in my way, these are my comments. It's what I thought of while I gazed at "Wind Chill") It's on my desktop background now. A stunning picture that drew me way in, as if I were there.

psst.. I'm not drunk.. I'm tired, so if this is whack and I can't tell until tomorrow... my apologies beforehand. LOL.

3. "Wind Chill"

I think the reason "Wind Chill" seems to invoke "Winter" the strongest is because all of the other photos show benign, mostly sunny, days. Maybe it was -20, but fair winter weather, none-the-less. That's when most of us venture out to take winter photos, because it's just too nasty out otherwise.

But what weather did this photographer have to endure to get that shot? That kind of dedication to photography deserves to win. :applause:

15. Birders go out in bad weather

Someone who is both a serious birder and a serious photographer might well be out in unpleasant winter weather with photographic equipment that can stand up to such weather. Birders do Christmas bird counts every winter and venture out in chilly rain, snow, sleet, and even sunny days. Ice storms might be problematic. Of course, I don't know whether or not Wind Chill's photographer is a birder or not.

this selection was so hard to choose from! I finally went with heading south.

31. Here it is, the middle of the night again.

32. It's so funny because the birds in "Wind Chill" seem to pop out

of the ground like flowers. If you mentally crop the water and just look at the beachscape, the birds are just an extension of the sand, light and water. Love it.
