Rumsfeld Can't Travel Abroad
I heard a commentator make reference recently to the fact that Donald Rumsfeld does not travel abroad because he fears getting arrested for war crimes. I then searched google news and saw some articles indicating he was hustled out of France by US officials last year for just this reason.

For example, http://www.alternet.org/story/66425/

Personally, I find it gratifying to know that Rummy is now confined to the US.

How about Powell?

And does this mean that Cheney and Bust and all the rest will have to spend their lives not being able to travel abroad?

If so, how sweet is that.

4. Rumsfeld is wanted for war crimes in seveal nations
I believe Germany was the first to indict. More have followed and after the Frat Boy and the Big Dick leave office, there should be no doubt that they, too, will face charges.

I am resolved not to lift a finger on their behalf. Let Interpol come to the US and apprehend them.

18. Yes, I would rather Rummy be confined in a different country such as Paraquay
preferably one that limits his freedom and rights and causes inconveniences on a daily basis.

8. God If I had known that I'd have called in a fake terror threat at the airport he was leaving from..
Oh, wait...Rummy was at that airport.

So it would have been true...

There was a terrorist at the airport.

He was just OUR terrorist

9. Uh, guys? Reality check, just for a moment. Do you REALLY BELIEVE that the Germans
would risk the diplomatic firestorm that would happen if they arrested Rumdum?

Come on. It's a nice fantasy, but it's just that: A fantasy.

13. BULLSHIT
there's not a national government on this planet that would idiotic enough to arrest and hold a former US Defense Secretary and if some local yokel decided to do so then whatever national government exists would have Rummy's ass freed within minutes.

America knows how to blow shit up and destroy things. That's about the only thing we do WELL. Not a single government on this planet wants to give us any reason to consider doing it to THEM.

17. Well, not completely
Rumsfeld wouldn't want the embarrassment of being arrested, even if he were promptly freed. It's possible that he's adjusting his travel schedule with this danger in mind.

Anyway, I think most people would delight in the symbolic value, even if he's never actually booked and fingerprinted.

16. I have a dream....
If only some day in the future, some group abroad could invite all Bush administration officials to a day of celebration where they could have a beer, meet local citizens, and reminisce about old times.

It could be like one of those sting operations where cops invite wanted people to get their free baseball tickets, and then arrest them all.

Of course no-one would show, but it would make the point, wouldn't it. Americans would then have to face up to the fact that the people in the administration they sort-of elected once, and re-elected a second time, are seen by others as criminals, and no longer free to travel the world.

It wouldn't amount to much, but it would have a justicy feel to it.

who would go to Chile and Argentina and bring back Nazi war criminals.
I wonder if a similar situation could occur.
Of the US should do the honerable thing and hand them over.
