Poll question: Impeachment proceedings should now be brought against George Walker Bush. |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-10-08 01:26 PM by bobthedrummer
Like impeachment proceedings were brought against Richard B. Cheney with further action pending before the House Judiciary Committee.
Do you agree or disagree that the impeachment process should now start against George W. Bush.

8. Before any one argues against impeachment |
|
. . . they ought to consider that is grounds for impeachment.
They should also consider that impeachment will prevent war against Iran.

2. Somehow, I don't think this is a scientific poll |
|
But that won't keep me from saying that impeachment proceedings against Bush and Cheney should now begin and should have been brought some time ago.

10. Even Skinner is on record as saying that DU polls are meaningless. |
|
Let alone unscientific-this is DU.
I feel that the oath of office should not have been given to George Walker Bush that installed his criminal administration. But he was given that oath-he has violated every part of it.

12. agree with you, and what's to keep them from stealing this one |
|
The only argument against impeachment is that it will "make the democrats look like meanies for pestering Bush" and then we will lose another presidential election. They have already stolen 2 elections, what's to prevent a 3rd occurrence, a surprise McCain upset. So we have all these loose ends on torture, secrecy, wiretapping, lawbreaking on a large scale just continuing on into the forseable future with no relief.

but I have no problem with someone introducing it. Whatever happened to DK's planned resolution anyway?

11. impeachment will make that goober MORE popular. |
|
I'd rather have disgruntled American voters VOTE many of the neocons out of power than to spend all our energy on getting rid of just one of them but making the rest of them actually more popular.
Americans are suckers for the underdog and giving the neocons any reason to scream "victim" is not a good choice. IMHO.

13. Most of the neocons were appointed by installed officials-that was a COUP OF SORTS IMO. |
|
I know my opinion still isn't popular-I also know that many others share it but don't voice it.

15. I'm now of the opinion |
|
that the smart thing to do (so that no one can pardon anyone else) is to have subpoenas at hand and present them to Bush, Cheney, Addington, Rice, Feith, etc. etc. when they step off the podium.
this, afaik, could be done by a citizen's group. the charges could be filed in a European country... don't know if they'd be applicable here, but people could well argue there is a reason to not do this in an American court b/c the justice system has been so politicized... esp. the likes of Scalia.
I'd rather see them sitting in Den Hague. Then let Congress investigate and reveal the extent of their corruption and let the U.S. have the sorts of accountings that people in Chile have done since Pinochet stepped down.
Impeachment is imp. to me, but at this point, is would look solely political, and if impeached, Bush and Cheney could pardon each other and others. I'd rather see them put on trial before the world. Not that I'm saying that will happen. It's maybe more likely than impeachment, however.
Or, the other best option is for criminal charges to be brought against them because of evidence forthcoming that would demand their arrests and trials. You know there are conservatives who detest these guys as much as liberals... why couldn't they be brought into the process to overcome accusations of partisan politics?

17. Torture is a crime and an impeachable offense, so is revealing the identity of a covert agent, |
|
so is lying to Congress, so is holding political strategy meetings in government offices...
