About a year ago I posted a thread asking how long members had been at DU.

It was interesting seeing the shift of membership from Year to Year.

Membership peaked on presidential election years and gradually subsided.

Here Goes...


How long you been with DU....?

I found this place through a link on Liberal Oasis. It doesn't feel so liberal around here anymore. I learned a lot about political discussion in the early days - particularly about how to back up what I said and what I believed in. I don't see as much of that around here anymore.

But, to be fair, I've changed a lot, too. On many issues, I'm more radical as I get older and on others, I go a little back towards the center (never all the way to the right, though!)

But I was lurking in Fall 2001 already. Took me a while to work up the nerve to post; it was a bit intimidating being amongst such witty and smart people. But ever since then, I've loved all my DU time.

I've been lurking on and off for several years but only recently stepped out of the shadows. I used to wander over occasionally from Buzzflash for the Conservative Idiots and then kept staying longer and longer as more caught my eye.

23. I've been here since right after the 2000 election though my profile doesn't show that.

I changed my name a while ago when I got a new computer and moved to the mountains. A bunch of us belonged to another Dem board that let freepers post. That got old and we moved here. I think a few are still here.

I think I was lurking for a while before that, though. And I came here back in the early days but it seemed much less user-friendly back then so I went back to SC, which is now much less user-friendly than this place.
