Just when did Iraq become so low priority?
It just seems that the candidates, the media, and by extension, the people of America aren't talking all that much about Iraq as much now as they (we) were a few months ago. Is it because it is such an old subject? Is it because people have just become numb to it and (more or less) just decided to accept it? I still think that Iraq and health care are the two top issues in this election and both HRC and Obama should keep hammering away on those subjects. I realize the economy is a huge topic, and rightfully so. But if we got our troops out of Iraq, the savings would be enormous and the money could be used to help the economy, including some sort of health care plan. So I am urging the candidates to re-open the dialogue on Iraq. We Americans deserve it.

1.  I couldn't agree with you more. Even my Boston Globe
keeps the little they write about the war on the inside pages.

Their sports pages cover everything but the war is forgotton.

Drives me nuts !

3. Strange, isn't it? Even here at DU there is not considerable talk of the war now.
I think some of this has to do with the political season.

6. The Iraq threads sink like a stone. I agree that it's because the primaries have
heated up so much, although I wish that weren't the case. nt

4. When 2 out of the 3 viable candidates are vulnerable to having started the war
Despite the hue and cry of the Hillary supporters about the "unfair treatment" she gets by the MSM, they should be thankful the war remains off the front page and off the radar on TV.

If it was still a hot issue she would have been done for a month ago.

8. what do we need more dialogue for?
we already know the platform, the democratic candidates are opposed to this adventure and will be looking for ways to get out without leaving the country in chaos forever

the GOP or at least mccain wants us there for 100 years

what is the point of more "dialogue?" we're all in agreement here, the war is bad, it needs to be fixed, the most productive thing to do if you want it fixed is to work for the democratic campaigns in my humble view

we already know that war sucks and that people are being killed or maimed, talking about it isn't doing anything about it, is it? i often avoid war discussions because it seems like they are too often heavy on graphics and horror, creating a feeling of helplessness -- why not heap the guilt and horror on those who have cause the problem (the GOP and specifically bush/cheney) rather than on DU members

we can hammer away more effectively on this topic when the primaries are over in my view, but i see no purpose to infighting the details now

just my 2 cents, if it's even worth 2 cents
