Henry Waxman, Sellout
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 09:38 AM by mmonk
HENRY WAXMAN, A SELL-OUT COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN CAN'T BOTHER WITH SIBEL EDMONDS AND CAN'T STAY AWAY FROM ROGER CLEMENS

-snip-

Does it seem to you that worrying about Roger Clemens' use or not-use of steroids is a bit of a stretch for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's mandate?

-snip-

Meanwhile, Waxman has shoved under the table--way under the table--an actual responsibility of his committee. Oversight of the FBI is more clearly the priority of the moment and that includes Sibel Edmonds and everything she knows.

-snip-

Corruption and illegal activities of several well-known members of Congress, Mr. Waxman. The FBI, Hank. No time for that, but plenty of time to stick your increasingly worthless and self-aggrandizing nose into Major League Baseball.

2. To call Henry Waxman a sellout is insane.
He's the #1 corruption fighter in Congress.

9. !

He talked a good game when we were in the minority.

He hasn't delivered on shit.

"We have too many important things to do, to focus on impeachment".

Yeah, like this crap. And Arlen Specter talking about investigating The NE Patriots. Screw the real crimes.

3. My sense is that the people Edmonds is on to are a very nasty lot
It's surprised me that they haven't knocked her off. Just a little too much media attention? I bet she has been threatened.
I wonder if they've put the word out to Waxman and others: Investigate at your own peril!

6. Huh? We Need MORE Waxmans...
Mmonk, usually I agree with what you post, but let's cut this dude some slack here.

Waxman said when he took over the chairmanship last year that his problems wasn't what to investigate, it was where to start. He's got so much going on...seems like he's the only one doing any serious digging as to the crimes of this regime. The Edmunds case belongs in the Judiciary or Intel Committees...not the ones Waxman oversee. Also, we have a totally useless Senate oversight committee...Holy Joe makes sure of that. We need to apread his load around...not condemn him.

Yes...this Clemmens hearing is a waste of time. This belongs in a civil or criminal court, not some dog and pony TV show on Capitol Hill.

8. No slack.
My country comes first. The issues surrounding the Edmonds case are historic.

14. Totally Shameful
I'm not sure whose worse...the corporate media for ignoring Ms. Edmunds...afraid of losing "access" and tips from "undisclosed sources" and no more invites to the drinkie-drinkie parties...OR, the feeble politicians who think these worthless hearings will look good at home on the 11pm News.

It's a shame a program like Frontline or even Bill Moyers still can't run with that story...the walls are still too high and the skeletons remain in the closet.

Cheers...

17. It's very disheartening.
To be honest, I was very surprised there is no interest. Have they all gotten too close to sources? Who knows the answer.

10. I will say if he needs help deciding,
I can show him which is more important. I'm reminded of the umpire adage (since he is investigating baseball and steroid use over treasonous activities), " I call 'em like I see 'em".

12. It wouldn't hurt
to send Waxman's e mails or call him up on the 800 number to Congress
and express your complaint

"Edmonds is more important than baseball. Why arent you investigating that?"

If you dont tell em, they wont know you're watching and dont like what you're seeing.

16. I think some here need to watch this youtube...
To see Waxman and how he doesn't have spine to do his duties, as those in this clip contend he doesn't... This clip shows him for the inactive congressman he is when he's confronted with the real critical issues of our day!

Waxman's done many good things, but when the real important bills come before him, he's been intimidated into inaction.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wei_hJdwkxY

It is up to us to continue to make sure he knows he's not doing what we him to, or noone else will and they will continue just to pursue investigations that try to yield votes in the next election, instead of providing true oversight that is needed for this country in the moment of its crossroads in history.
