Thank you all for the support and the hearts

My grandson is well on his way to Iraq and he knows that the love and support of a very large family and friends go with him. I truly appreciate the ability to come to DU and put words to my fears and inner feelings. As an avid news junkie, and having been around during WWII, Korea, VietNam, having loved ones serving and lost in each of them, having worked within the military medical facilities beside the VietNam medics and Med admin who had returned home with the wounds and memories, I realize how important and special DU is and take comfort in knowing I only have to go to my keyboard to find a source of comfort.

My grandson's mother, my daughter; his dad, his 14-yr and 11-yr old brothers are having a hard time and I vowed not to fall apart in front of them. My daughter who is also a Trauma/ER nurse, puts on her stoic face, gets into her organizational mode and researching just what her son needs to stay alive while at the same time, silently fighting to maintain a semblance of order and safety for her home brood.

I do not fret over my medical problems as I am a 20-yr cancer survivor and therefore have lived long enough to see my grandson/children's births and young lives, see and share in my adult children's world-wide travels and lives. I have been blessed and have no regrets, I pray for the same for my children, grandchildren and for all of you. I will keep you posted on Nick, my beautiful grandson.
