After today's latest cave in by the "Democrats," should this site just be "Underground?"
Or perhaps, "America Underground?"

2. Looked like a bi-partisan unity vote to me, sort of a "Republican-Democrat"
party vote. Just like the Obama people want.

4. Yep. A repubs definition of
bi-partisan unity is when
they get the dems to vote
their way, not meet in the
middle.

23. If you're going to hold up this vote as evidence of what an Obama
presidency will be like, well...I have to say I like that comparison. Obama makes a principled stand; Hillary ducks the issue to avoid upsetting her donors.

I'd say the odds were very good he was going to MAKE this one. Marvelous how people can get their act together when people are watching them.

10. "Why do you keep hitting yourself on the head with that hammer?"
"Because it feels so good when I stop."

No matter how many times you try it 2+2 never equals 4 with this bunch.

In all seriousness, may I ask why ANYONE thinks it will be any different after November? It is a march to a corporate state of perpetual fear, and all the Democrats will be doing this time around is holding the place for the next group of neo-cons to come in and finish the job. Unless of course Hillary gets elected, in which case she will do a good bit of the grunt work herself in exchange for a seat at the table.

For those who know football, I give you the immortal Dennis Green quote:

"They are who we thought they were!"

11. I like Ground Under Democrats, myself.
It was compromise in action, civil strategy, just like both of our candidates are claiming is so "effective" and "necessary" in order to "reclaim" our nation.

We have no representative government and there are no congress people willing to risk their jobs by standing up for democratic ideals.

What happened on the hill today is not "seeking common ground" with the rightwing...it's called advocating the will of a repressive government.

16. Well, "we" elected them
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 04:54 PM by DaDooRonRon
and the reasoning behind doing so in '06 was that "we" needed a majority and with all the new progressive blood coming in then "our" voices would be heard.

It really can't be any more obvious now, can it? "You" don't mean a tinkers damn to them, and no matter who you think "you" are electing it all goes back to the same place.

How much more righteous indignation are "you" going to let slide? How much longer are "you" willing to be fooled? The onus is no longer on the bad guys on the other side now - the onus is on "YOU".

31. bingo

The onus is on all of us. How long, Lord, how long? How long will the denial continue? Jesus, when will the greek choir be replaced by hopelites? If I had a dollar for every time the cry of betrayal has been sounded here I could retire. They weren't just crying wolf either, the betrayals are real, yet time after time the battered wife crosses her fingers and hopes it will be better next time, but it never is.

How can we be so deluded? Is it fear, sloth, hypnotism? Those jerks ain't gonna give us nothin'. We're gonna hafta get off our asses and take what is ours.

20. Umm
When you find a party that you agree completely with -- let me know.

This country was designed for compromise. If you'd like a compromise-less government, move to a dictatorship.

It's one thing to be upset and mad and to take that out on your representatives. But to abandon the party? Please.

All-or-Nothing Liberals.

Let's call it All-or-Nothing Underground.

39. thanks for that -- it's only the occasional judge providing such moments (alas, indeed)
As the Dems continue to cave and cave, such judges will become rarer, and the last of America, extinct.

Time to start planning now for secession movements?
