29 Republicans jumping ship from Congress this year (YEAH)
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capitol-briefing/2008/02/rep_shadegg_to_retire.html

Rep. Shadegg to Retire
Add yet another name to the GOP retirement list. Arizona Rep. John Shadegg (R) is on the verge of announcing that he will not run for re-election, according to Republican sources.

Shadegg is in his 7th term in the House and is the former chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee. He served briefly as House GOP Policy Chairman and then lost a bid for House Majority Leader in 2006.

2. You realize they're jump[ing ship in time to become lobbyists bcz of new law
passed - forget the exact date but it might be Jan 1 2009 or before - senateor or congressman must wait 2 years before joingint lobbying firm - so theyre leaving now and taking their new jobs so that they wont fall under new law forbidding going directly from elected office to lobbyist office.
