Big oil has the money and power to do what ever they want, and they will. Congress has shown us they won't take these people on, and no matter who is in charge, the people lose when it comes to gas prices!

12. What do you consider "normal"? |
|
Gas will continue to rise under any Administration as the value of the US dollar has been irrepairably damaged..Every time you meet a Republican you can thank them for it...

14. What's your definition of "normal?" |
|
Gas prices have always been abnormal because the regular rules of supply and demand don't apply to gas. The price can go up but demand won't shrink because people "need" their cars, or at least have been very successfully brainwashed into thinking that.

Even if you factor in these new fields they are finding. The cost of producing it is going to be more expensive because of location and crude quality. Combined with demand it just not going ever be "cheap" again. Sorry thats just the facts. We might see a small drop because of market manipulation but nothing of significance. :-(

16. Yes. after Bush is gone the price of oil will drop back down to a level dictated by Supply/ Demand |
|
If supply and demand had anything to do with it the price of crude wouldn't be over %60 and you wouldn't be paying much more than $2.00 per gallon. It is only the Bush administration and world fear of what it might do next that holds the price where it is.

19. bingo! Even if the markets dropped the price per barrell... |
|
the corps have seen "what the markets will bear" (people will pay) - and there is no incentive for them to do anything but reap greater and greater profits.

18. Remember during the 2006 elections? It went down just before, and up right after. |
|
It can be priced any where they choose. At any time.
I seem to remember posting on DU that it had gone down as a campaign tactic, and that it WOULD go back up just the same. It's a seller's market, which was their goal.
