This quote from The Guardian’s article on the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show wins a Lede ribbon for disbelief:

“You’re kidding. Is she the Patty Hearst?” said Mitzie McGavic, who had travelled from Florida for the annual highlight of America’s dog show circuit. “Showing dogs at Westminster, who knew?”

Outside the show people seemed just as surprised and curious today, as the name shot all the way to No. 3 on Google’s chart of hot searches.

Despite the disbelief, this was not a joke: The Patty Hearst has transformed from rebel to dog show enthusiast, as one headline put it.

3. I've been to The Westminster Dog Show twice. You have NO IDEA what a Hell on Earth that place is.

Remember that episode of Star Trek where some aliens kidnap Kirk so that they can harvest the germs on his body to introduce deadly diseases to their over-crowded world where nobody dies?

Remember the scene where they show all the people crowding one another in narrow corridors with no room to move?

Now, take one of those hallways, and add a bunch of people trying to groom dogs of various sizes as tourists mill around taking photos.

Be sure to raise the temperature to 90 degrees, too.

That is what it is like backstage at The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

5. There are still people who condemn her it seems.

Although I blame the powerful Hearst family for a lot of what is wrong with California, Patty was really a victim in that kidnapping and I don't understand why people still diss her.
