Pelosi ready to move on contempt charges:
I received this letter from Robert Wexler:
Today, in hearings on Capitol Hill, I confronted Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on her role in the lies, exaggerations, and misdirection that led us into the Iraq war.

During my questioning, Secretary Rice falsely stated that she never saw intelligence casting doubt on the Bush Administration claims that Saddam possessed weapons of mass destruction. This unbelievable statement is flatly contradicted by numerous government reports and CIA testimonials. (To watch the video of my exchange with Secretary Rice, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyKOkGjodhY.)

Secretary Rice's responses demonstrate once and for all that we need aggressive oversight over this out of control Administration. Unfortunately, the Bush Administration has ignored the constitutional right of Congress to provide such oversight.

It is time Congress took aggressive action to assert our rights on behalf of the American people.

The House of Representatives must immediately hold former White House Counsel Harriet Miers and White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten in contempt of Congress for their failure to respond to congressional subpoenas.

I have been aggressively lobbying Members of Congress to support a vote on contempt, and I am thrilled to report that Speaker Pelosi told me directly that she agrees it is well past time to vote on contempt. I am anticipating that the House will shortly vote on resolutions of both civil and criminal contempt for both Miers and Bolten.

No one should be immune from accountability and the rule of law.

Not Harriet Miers or Josh Bolten.

And especially not Condoleezza Rice, George W. Bush or Dick Cheney.

It is time to defend the Constitution and our rights as a co-equal branch of government.

I will continue to take on the Bush Administration for their outrageous abuses just as I confronted Condoleezza Rice today and Attorney General Mukasey last week. (My questioning of Mukasey: http://www.wexlerforcongress.com/multimedia.asp?ItemID=234 )

With your help we will hold these top Bush officials in contempt and continue our efforts to hold impeachment hearings for Vice President Dick Cheney.

Thank you, as always, for your great support.

Yours truly,

Congressman Robert Wexler

4. Have they just figured out Rice talks in circles and lies
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 05:29 PM by mac2
How about perjury and treason charges against Rice? Contempt for the truth is more like it.

Might I remind the Congress that "change of face law" is not acceptable to those who do criminal acts against our democracy? The next election to water it down and the theives in high places on federal pensions, etc.?

Murder (and genocide) has no time limit.

6. Contempt charges will take years to go through the Courts.
If these folk were actually serious they would lay down Inherent Contempt, now!

8. Guess contempt is acceptable and less likely to bring
prison Nancy? It's like "censoring the President" for lying about war. Nancy you'd better go to law school and find out what Rice really did to our country and a few others.

14. I would have believed her if she did it 8 months ago.
But because it took this long just to get lip service from that Bush-enabler, lip-service is all I anticipate we'll get.

I'll be pissing on her grave right along with Bush's and Cheney's.

to scedule meetings to determine if they can consider conferences to resolve if they can entertain the notion of tabling convocations to huddle with fellow lawmakers about a palaver to see if they can deliberate on the issue of conferring at a colloquim to hold round table talks about doing something.

Got it.

that have snubbed a Subpoena.

25. What are the odds on Inherent Contempt?
10,000,000,000,000 to 1? Does England book bets like that? This could provide much needed economic stimulus! One well placed dollar solves the debt crisis with one unlikely act of Congress...

I'll file Pelosi's statement with all those 'grave reservations' the Dems had about renewing FISA.
