Why SHOULDN'T Roger Clemens lie?
Why should he have any idea that he ought not to LIE to CONGRESS? What on Earth could have given him THAT idea?

2. because while congress is a toothless tiger when it comes to the bush admin, they
won't be so kind to someone who "smeared the reputation of Amurikkkka's great game!"

He's a ball player, and they can smack him down for lying under oath - something they would never DREAM of doing when it really matters, like when the bush admin stonewalls, obfuscates, or outright LIES under oath.

3. I don't really care if he did it or not.
This problem was created by baseball. He went with what they let him do.

4. Clemens is the most obnoxious person I ever met !
I met him 15-20 yrs ago at a Christmas party. I would bet the farm he is lying. He is that kind of person. Rude, obnoxious and omni-present. The kind of person you would like to just slap the shit out of. I hope he gets his come-uppins. He deserves it.

6. Explain to me why I should give a shit about a baseball player on steroids?
Quite frankly, I think Congress has better things to do with its time, like bringing an end to the war in Iraq, investigating the crimes of the Bush administration and STARTING FUCKING IMPEACHMENTS!!!

Investigating baseball scandals is a waste of time.

10. What I'm saying is that all these people are still rolling around in clover.
There has been no penalty, no threat of penalty for any of their contempt.

12. absolutely right!
And if it takes this guy to shame Congress into demanding people stop lying to them without consequence then maybe I can forgive them for wasting our and their time with this stuff. (As long as the desired shameful effect is realized!)

16. Where are the "what will we tell the children" Republicans?
It was the scandal of all time to have to tell the children that Bill Clinton wasn't telling the truth to America about something that was nobody's business but his and his wife's. Oh my, how the republic tottered on the brink of tumbling onto the ash heap of history! And what could we tell the children if high government officials could lie with such impunity? Okay, maybe not officials, and one could hardly assert that Clinton wasn't punished over and over again by a vindictive cabal of hypocrites. But still.

And over the last seven years of one of the most secretive, corrupt, lying-ass administrations ever? We don't hear a peep out of the right wing echo chamber, do we? Why indeed should Roger Clemens worry about lying his ass off to Congress?
