It Seemed Like The Clemens Hearing Was Breaking Down Along Party Lines
With Democrats going after Clemens and Republicans going after McNamee.

Anyone else notice this?

Wexler was hammering Clemens and that Republican Rep. from Indiana was hammering McNamee. And the others on the panel seemed to break along party lines.

I wonder why this happened.

4. As much as I like Obama
I really wonder if there's any way that Republicans can ever compromise on anything with Democrats in Congress, even if we have a Democratic President who has a strong mandate from the people. I think the Republicans will always look at what the Democrats favor and they'll take the opposing side. I hope I'm wrong and I hope we get a strong Democratic majority in both houses to shut the Repubs down.

5. Strange--I believe McNamee, and my Repub Dad believes Clemens.
We argued over it a little. I'm a huge sports fan, but I think generally, Repubs think that athletes (especially WHITE athletes) can do no wrong.

7. what's funny is espn.com has a nationwide poll up
asking who do you believe....

ALL of America, every state, says McNamee, but a 70-30 margin.

6. All Congressional hearings break down party lines these days
GOPers wouldn't get caught dead agreeing with Democrats.

Democrats, on the other hand, often play footsie with GOPers - - to the detriment of the general public.

8. I noticed that too...
...both of their testimonies were questionable - but why would the trainer lie about Clemens? I wish someone asked Clemens to speculate why his trainer would lie. Clemens has the most to lose - I believe the trainer, who is a real jerk.

9. I think House Dems and Repugs can't stand each other....
... and Repugs love Clemens because he's a big-time Republican.....Which would explain his affinity for not telling the truth.

12. Whole thing is a complete waste of time and I am dumber for having watched it....
Wexler came across as mean and vindictive too, which is a shame because most of the time he does work that actually matters.

13. Star f**kers most of them
besides if you noticed Clemens was a lot more vehement in his denials than was McNamee. That's sort of the repig way -come out swinging, loudly deny the accusations, whine about how much he's given the game, the only thing he didn't do that would have further endeared him to those repubs was to question the patriotism of the accusers and the Dems on the committee and accuse them of being soft on steroids.

I have no knowledge of Clemens political affiliation but after seeing him on the stand I'd bet a hundred bucks he's a repub.

16. I care
If he's cheating, he has taken titles others deserved. Cheaters are scumbags, and I have met Clemens, and I beleive he is lying.
He is a very obnoxious person to be around. He feels a sense of entitlement from the baseball community. I never noticed one bit of humility in anything he said. I say boot his ass out of baseball and take away all titles.
