21 Social Studies Lessons From the Bush Cheney Administration
February 13th, 2008 john Posted in Uncategorized |

Seniors in High School today probably don’t remember much about the Clinton years except what they hear in the hallways, on the streets outside of school, and under the spectator stands after the football games; to wit: fellatio isn’t sex. Thank you, Bill. But these students have learned quite a few lessons about how our government works from the Bush/Cheney administration. For example:

  • Cronyism is okay.
  • Not all votes count. Also see Bush v Gore.
  • The President need not obey the Constitution. He only needs to say how he interprets it.
  • The President may choose the laws he wishes to enforce.
  • The President is above the law. He is also not subject to prosecution for abuse of power while in office.
  • The President is only accountable to the citizenry on election day. Otherwise he may do as he pleases.
  • Presidents and their appointees are not accountable to the public once their term expires. Witness how former Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld is simply off the radar and not subject to prosecution for the crimes he committed while in office.
  • It’s okay for a president to pardon a convict or to alter a judicial decision even if it includes a personal friend who committed treason on the President’s behalf.

    - snip -

  • No amount of money is too much to spend on war while any amount of money spent on education, health care, and infrastructure at home is irresponsible.
  • Dissent is unpatriotic

2. Here's another
Tax cuts are always good, especially for the rich. Taxing the rich is anti-democratic.

23. If the opposition actually opposes, they're told that they are "violating the spirit of bipartisanship and engaging in polarizing behavior."

24. Opposition leaders come to believe this and ignore or ridicule members of their party who object to what is happening.

5. Heres a key bullet...
Bullet: The speaker of the House of Representatives has the sole power to determine whether or not the impeachment clause of the Constitution will be used by Congress.

Pelosi is being a good fascist.
