Why "small government" conservatives are dumbasses.
1. There is no such thing as a "small government". Any type of goverment seeks to preserve the monopoly of force and the integrity of the state territory. This is an inherent property of governments and thus, no type of goverment will ever allow for people to ever "do how they please on the land that they own."

2. Small government conservatives usually value "respect of the uniform", thus respect of state authority. How does this make any sense, to ask for a small government, but at the same time ask for strong leadership?

3. Small goverment conservatives think they can solve all their problems on their own, and other peoples problems are none of their concern. That concept will fail ultimately, when they see themselves outgunned by an impoverished public.

4. Small government conservatives believe that they will benefit from "tax cuts". They believe that a person advertising tax cuts is going to leave them with more money in their pockets. In reality, they are going to have less money in their pockets because tax cuts for the wealthy lead to higher costs for public utilities of any kind.

5. Small goverment conservatives believe their politicians will help "small businesses". That is nonesense. The politicians they are electing are not even claiming to speak in favor of "that little food stand at the end of the road where granny used to shop" in the face of the huge food chain that is taking over the market. Their politicians are indefinitely sided with the big chain, but still somehow they feel like their interests will be represented by them.

6. They think opposing smoking ban and gun control are citizens rights issues, where really they are issues pushed by lobbies making millions off of selling the respective product. The politicians advertising "small government" don't give a damn about citizens rights.

7. They believe that a small goverment is one that will not force a school to accept black students.

8. They believe that one hundred dollars of tax money going into a homeless person's pocket is a bigger waste than a hundred trillion dollars simply going up in smoke somewhere on the other side of the world.

9. They believe that money is saved by going into debt.

10. They believe a small government is one that will not force schools to teach accurate facts instead of bedtime stories.

11. They believe a labor union is a "goverment program".

12. They believe a "small government" is one that performs universal surveillance on its citizens.

13. They believe anything that has the word "patriot" in it is part of small government, even if it was a program called "patriots for gathering everybodys dollar bills together and setting them on fire" or "patriots for spray painting kittens".

14. They believe that a sociologist or an economist telling them what to do is worse than a preacher telling them what to do.

15. They believe that an unregulated economy will cause their job NOT to be outsourced to china. Duuh!

Feel free to add :)

3. They should vote Democratic. The government grows much less under Democrats.
Truman and Clinton even made the federal government smaller.

4. Their "small government" rhetoric has created the largest "shadow government" in history
via outsourcing and contracting government functions.

6. Absolutely...
and along with increasing the size of government CUT the many social programs that are designed to help the poor and those living on the edge, who without these programs WILL fall into poverty.

7. The only President in my lifetime that "cut" government...
was William Jefferson Clinton. And these people hate him.
