Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) Writes Conyers = "Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment"
Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren Writes to John Conyers About Impeachment

by David Swanson

Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D., Calif.), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, has written a letter to Committee Chairman John Conyers (D., Mich.) on the topic of impeachment. Lofgren refers to the possibility of opening impeachment hearings on Vice President Cheney, President Bush, or a federal judge. She suggests that the impeachment of a federal judge may soon be on the agenda for the committee.

Lofgren says that she is aware of the efforts of some of her committee colleagues to open impeachment hearings on Cheney. She does not say she is joining them. Instead she urges Chairman Conyers to reissue a report on impeachment produced by the committee in 1974 and to open hearings on that report. She writes that she wants the whole committee to have a common understanding of impeachment before beginning hearings. The report is titled "Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment".

Lofgren has issued a press release on the topic. http://lofgren.house.gov/PRArticle.aspx?NewsID=1878

She has posted a PDF of her letter to Conyers. http://lofgren.house.gov/Media/File/PDFs/Conyers%20Impeachment%20Letter.pdf

She has also posted a PDF of the 1974 report "Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment". http://lofgren.house.gov/Media/File/PDFs/Constitutional%20Grounds%20for%20Presidential%20Impeachment.pdf

2. I think we have more than one maniac on the loose.
1. Bush
2. Cheney
3. Rice
4. Oh what the heck, it would be easier to list the GOPers who aren't maniacs!

Bush and Cheney scare me the most, though.

3. Not to mention the Corrupt Bastards Club. They wish we only thought of them as maniacs!

BUT, we all know them as the criminals they have been shown to be!

We need to take back the USG from this political mafia and restore the Constitution, and Justice for the People.

6. that is what i am afraid of, but
maybe, politically, it is possible that after the nomination is settled, they could. i think at this point it would be an unwelcome focus to the nominating process. but after that is settled, what better way to blast the gop back to the stone age?
